Personally I don't worry too much if front and rear tyres don't match. After all, we run different sizes front and rear...  Yeah that doesn't make any difference, even if you have the same design but 2 different sizes it's the same that having 2 different tyres. Another option is 135/15 tyres on front (Firestone still makes it no ?) but I'm pretty scared to run this on my car  . Why are you scared running them on your car. I have 135XZX's on the front of my bug and they have been OK. I know it's ok, but I found them very thin, and as I always drive on mountains roads (that means bad roads, ice and snow on winter...), there's that little voice that tells me to don't run it.   I'm running Vredestein SprintClassics on all four on my 67'. Very nice classic looking tyres, dimensions are 205/70 and 155. I wish they'd make a narrower front tyre though - a lil' bit of rubbing goin on..  155/15 look nice on 5,5 wheels. |

Love me some vintage tread  Planning on 145 Michelin XZX'x and 185/70 XWX's for the GTV, and Firestone F-560's for the '67 in 145 and 205/70 widths, respectively. |

... I remember chatting to Richie Webb at DDD4 about XZX's and I told him that I didn't like them following the long drive to Bitburg from the UK, but he then said he ran them on the Cabrio which does 140+ mph so they can't be that bad ... Yeah, they didn't blow either. Good to know. |

then my bro's old 67 with 145 zxz's and the same 185 xwx's  I noticed this sold recently for a very reasonable sum of money, with a freshly installed 2276cc IDA motor as well. Such a cool car. |

ben is talking about the height (diameter) of the wheel and tyre combined. 135/70 is a smart car tyre and the rolling diameter would be (i did some maths for ya) 1.7" lower/smaller compared to a 145/80 tyre...

Such a cool car. yes it did the new owners son has been in contact with me to ask about the cars history weirdly enough the new owner lives in the same town as me which is nice as I'll still be able to see it driving around |

My father is the new owner of this cool ride, Its not changed in condition from the above pictures, and still wears the same Michelin tyres as then! I will take some more shots with the new motor in place.
