Driving Hot VWs for 44 Years Strong!

« on: October 07, 2008, 03:02:45 am »

I thought I would put up a shot of an Oval I am going through and doing some updates on.  The first thing I am doing is taking out all the old AUTOMETER gauges from years back when only the black face was available.  I am installing PHANTOM guagues with the white face...but I painted the bezels silver to give them a contrast against the black dash. I have the speedo in and still have the balance of the gauges to install.

The car has a FOLTS built trans in it with close gears, good axles, etc. The front end has disc brakes and drums on the rear. The fronts are real late model polished 15x6 FUCHS and the rears are also late model 15x7 FUCHS. I am building a big motor for it at this time which will have a 911 shroud, IDAs, etc.

Thought you'd like to see my CAL LOOK project car. The paint was done by PETE SANTINI years ago.

I had the oval when the chance to pick up the CHOP TOP came along. So, I put the oval on hold till I built the new motor, installed the gauges in the CHOP and did a few refinements to it.

Now back to the OVAL for awhile. I now have a driver while I am working on my project car. :-)  Here is another angle of the Oval.

That is great looking. What a fun car.

Glad to see you're doing well.... well enough to play with toys!

Rick,
Yea we are still in the same house. Thank goodness we didn't fall for the temptation of the tricky loans Wink

Give me a call when you guys go for a cruise. I have my dad's old '68 that I cleaned up for my daughter.

There is a great Saturday night cruise at Safeway on 83rd north of Union Hills (near Fletcher heights) let me know if you go and I'll meet you up there.(602) 400 1596.
