I think louisb posted something about a Cal Look Timeline thing some of us had some fun with.
Think of this as a continuation on same theme....

if you had to round up cars (either real thing or pics because cars are long gone) to represent each "era" of the scene, which ones would you choose?
Think from 1965 to present day. I'm not going to lay down any specific eras or time cut-offs, you guys come up with your own thoughts and takes on it. Should make it more interesting...

I'll watch for your ideas and thoughts while I think of my choices.

Have Fun,

Jim

From the '60s, other than Sarge's white car... I can't think of any. So I choose that one.
From the '70s, my orange 1966 Beetle. I'd convert it to 12v but otherwise, I'd leave the car as I built it.
From the '80s, Kevan Wood's beige convertible Karmann Ghia with the very fast 1600cc 48IDA engine.
From the '90s, Bill Schwimmer's car. This one's a no brainer... look at the car. Bill, please install the BRMs before I take delivery.  Grin
From this era, I have no idea... there are so many nice cars out there, now. Thankfully, I already have one that I can eventually build up, so I'm happy with that.

Next?

60s Mark Thurber's metallic brown 64 before it was lowered

70s Roger Grago's Ghia on Fuchs

80s Wade Nishimoto's black 67

90s Lee Gong's 65 or Danny Gabbard's black Ghia

2000s Shawn Geers 63

Interesting thing is all these cars had all the body trim except Lee Gong's.

Sarge's '63
Don Crane's '67
Aronson cover car '63
Lazenby's Butternut
Deano's blue '67
Grago's Ghia
red DKK Notch w/ alloys (Danny?)
Gary Berg '67'
Mason's black land speed record machine
Newbury's Dark Lord blue Oval
ST DRGN
Jose's black oval
Lanny H brown '67

in chronological order.

But most timeless car, of all has to be Schwimmer's '59.

I'd grab:

1) from early to mid 70's the red '62 (or '63?) Beetle with 356-brakes and Fuchs (cover of some 1976 issue of Hot VWs).
2) from late 70's/early 80's DKK Lemonade's Beetle with Fuchs.
3) from 90's Greg Brinton's black Beetle or the Yellow '65(?) with Fuchs (Brody Hoyt?) that's in Mike Key's book
4) current times, maybe Aaron Broughton-built Diamond Green Oval. Or if suspension changes would be okay, then it would be the yellowish '58 from German Folks (built by Trayle/Dweez)  Wink

Hmm.. all of those cars had Fuchs..

This is a fun topic.  Off the top of my head:

60's:  Crane's '67 (maybe tied with Sarge's '63)
70's:  Wally's red sunroof
80's:  Grauman/Brinton '67
90's:  Conklin's '67
00's:  Rick Sadler's yellow '67

Hmmm...almost all '67 models.

I want to edit/add to my list:

Mike Maize's orange car doesn't fit in here anywhere, and that makes it perfect.
It stands alone and is one of the coolest because of that.
