is it all business activity right now? Wow... a lot of my customers have very little work, and very few appointments scheduled.
Seems like even the Lounge is slow right now..... and it's free!

Is this pinching everybody right now?

YES! I've been out of work for 2 weeks now. We do have a few orders at work but only a couple days worth. 2 months ago we were 2 months out on lead time. It seems like orders stopped coming in almost overnight. Makes it hard to buy the last few things I need to finish my engine.

I have been busy but I work for a Uni. When people are out of work, they tend to go back to school.

It's been tough here, too. For the first year and a half I worked here, we were backed up 2, 3, sometimes 4 months for simple jobs like a convertible top. All of the sudden we got caught up in September, and it's been day to day Undecided It really sucks because I was hoping to ask for a raise this month, but there is no way I can do that now. This week we booked a lot of work though, so at least I know that I'll be good through October.

Really?? My dad is a Surgical Tech and I was talking to him the other day, he said that he has slowed way down as well. People are getting less "elective" surgeries.

I'm on the insurance end.  Summer was a little slower, but we've picked up just fine since August.

This is exactly the reason I went into teaching - I did an engineering degree and towards the end of it realised that engineering in the UK just isn't a stable enough industry.

And I work in Telecoms.......... And it is total chaos due to Eid Al fitr! Working my ass off to be able to terminate all the pressure created from Muslims calling home. This is the only event that is capable of using ALL the Telco capacity in the world.

So.... if you have a well working, high capacity route to Egypt, Sudan, Pakistan, Nigeria, Uzbekistan.... or to any Muslim country I`m willing to pay quite a lot for it  Wink

I’m in the home remodeling bis. Holly crap! I'm lucky I still have a job. I'm making about 1/2 of what I made a year and a half ago! Sucks. I can’t imaging going through what some people are going through getting laid off. This is also when people start stealing more shit too. Watch your mirrors on the way home. Seriously!!! Undecided

This is exactly the reason I went into teaching - I did an engineering degree and towards the end of it realised that engineering in the UK just isn't a stable enough industry.

I think your reasons were good, but something the Western world will realise to our end. Now there is a polar shift where the American empire is failing and the Chinese Empire is on the verge of being the new ruling mass. This in part has been caused by our demand for cheap goods without really understanding (or wanting to know) where they are sourced from.

Margaret Thatcher destroyed Manufacturing and created the service industry that is now destroying our society obviously helped by ''New'' Labour. I'm not a war monger but if you can't manufactuer you can't go to war.

The sad thing in my eyes is the Americans have a very hard work ethic. I used to work with a couple of Americans and realised how lucky we are in Europe with holidays and pay scales.

Lets hope we can get some heat under that sticky molasses. Anybody got any cheap chinese pots  Grin

I want to touch on that sooooooooo bad, but I urge everyone to keep politics off of The Lounge. That's a big part of the reason why I left the CLF...

Politics on the Internet makes as much sense as fighting online. No one wins and everyone looks pretty stupid. PLEASE, let's keep that stuff off of here. That's one of the main reasons I don't watch television. There's enough negative crap in the world and we don't need it where we have fun.

I'm  off to go drink a Newcastle and clean my Beetle. Play nice.
