... Need to be anodized really ... ... yeah your right ... The one's in Sal's avatar are part of the spare anodized set but she doesn't like them as much. I know.... On the plus side it'll have those on when it's running slicks. She doesn't know that yet.

Well spotted, the heads are from Brothers Machine. At the time Sal bought her engine a friend had an express order on the go with Ugly Duckling so meanwhile we popped up the road and got Brothers on the case for ours. They've had some good results and came recommended so seemed to be a good place to go. Spec wise the engine's a fairly 'standard' 2332 set up slightly lazy. Most of it's from Scat with various things done to it by both Rimco and DK Machine.

,good choice of the color.
I am really happy with the colour. I hadn't seen a bug in the leaf green but thought it would be a winner, so really pleased that it looks good. Very very cool.. So, ready for ninove? There is no definite completion date, but once its ready I am looking forward to having some european adventures, so if not 2009 then 2010. I just hope I don't have to wait that long

Why have I not noticed this thread before? Is my eyes starting to play jokes on me?
This is indeed looking promising and just by looking at the pics I love the choice of colour! I can only imagine how it looks in real life and I can`t wait to see it myselves.
Have a nice Christmas both of you and good luck with the rest of the project.
Best rgs Kalle

Thanks Guys, Adele, I am sure you are in the same frame of mind as me waiting for yours to be painted too. Excited doesn't quite cover it. ;DThe rest of the paint should be finished this week and then the car will be coming home sometime over the holidays! Best present ever Hi Kalle, slowly but surely its coming together. Getting the paint on feels like a big leap in the right direction and we are really pleased with how it looks. I just can't wait to see it in the flesh, as so far we are going by the same pictures you see here. Looks like we may have a busy xmas and new year ahead of us, but its all good. Enjoy the xmas holidays and hope to see you soon with my "new" car sometime next year . Cheers, Sal

Pretty looking car, Sal. Forgive me... but did the '73 Beetles in your country (and anywhere outside of the States) also have the big round tail lights? I've always wanted to do a Cal Look Beetle to a '73. I'd use the earlier bumpers (like what you have) and paint them body color along with the rubber packing that resides in the middle of the bumpers. Same with the headlight bezels.
The color that you chose is outstanding, also. The craftmanship on the body and paint it excellent. It's going to be one sweet car when it's completed. Congrats!

I think the '73 & on Bugs had the big lights. My car is a January '73 and still has the smaller older lights. Pretty looking car ... The color that you chose is outstanding, also. The craftmanship on the body and paint it excellent. It's going to be one sweet car when it's completed. Congrats!
I had to have green and it had to be either from the Porsche or the VW charts and in the end it was down to 2 greens but one was too 'British' looking, so wasn't going to work on a german car. So in the end the colour almost picked itself, pleased it looks good now its on the car. As for the craftsmanship Cris and Gavin have made it into a pretty good little car, can't thank them enough really. A couple more photos from today...

Sal, have you thought about the painted headlight rings? Mark has just done his, and Roland has them on his '68 too. I think they'd look awesome! But you know that you don't need bumpers, right?
