How much castor is the ideal amount to aim for when setting up a front end on a drag car?
How many deg. do you get with a set of shims?

Depending heavily on top speed. But begin with 5 to 5,5

Kev, I ran 2 sets of shims on my car, with 13" front wheels. Always felt very stable. It's probably better to have too much than not enought!

Hi Kev,

Depends on the rake your running, the more rake, the more castor you have to run to correct the rake (to get it back to stock).

I look to get 7deg's total. lovely and stable at 145 mph.

Set your car up how you want to run then use a castor gauge to measure the castor and shim to suite.

In my chassis car, Ron at RLR put on 6 degrees.  6-8 degrees was a mentioned as a good setting.
