Slinger and I are working on reproducing the famous EMPI 4 bolt glass pack muffler! If you have an original EMPI header and no muffler (or a blown out, dented and scraped one like mine), or if you want to convert your 3 bolt non-merged header into a 4 bolt EMPI look-a-like. Unlike the originals however, these mufflers will be made from 100% stainless steel, professionally TIG welded and fully polished, instead of chromed steel. They will also have a 1/8" larger inlet pipe, to improve exhaust flow from the collector to the muffler. Other than that, they will be 100% identical in EVERY way to the originals. From the bands around each end of the muffler, to the riveted aluminium EMPI badge, to the "Super Bell" flared exhaust tip. As you can imagine, there is an immense amount of work involved in reproducing these- everything but the tubing has to be custom made- and they will be priced accordingly, at least $500 each. If you plan on converting a 3 bolt header, an extra 4 bolt flange will be supplied, along with all of the appropriate hardware to make the conversion. My original EMPI header (and car) will be used as a jig, to make sure the fit is 100% accurate for those who are using an original EMPI header.

This post is to get a feel for demand... we need to order the glass pack mufflers (as we are having them custom built to the appropriate specifications) so we may begin production. Please let us know as soon as possible! Smiley

By the way, if you have seen the brass EMPI sending units that Slinger reproduced, you know that our attention to detail is second to none. These will be just as good, if not better than the quality original offerings from EMPI.

I would be interested in the muffler. Also, can you post pics of the brass EMPI sender you reproduced?

Oh, cool! Someone's going to finally reproduce the mega super uber tucked up dual quiet-packs that FourTuned made with their merged collector headers in the early '80s?

Fantasitc... but I've already found an excellent alternative system. They're called A-1.

I wish! The header would be an even larger undertaking than the muffler.

 Shocked

It's a good thing this got cut apart... I would have got the mufflers with the wrong size core!
I am thinking that this one just might be salvageable... Wink
