Hi John,

The guy you mean is Robert Jongen www.rojoracing.com
He was running a UN1 with the diff welded to use as a spool.I am using a UN1 now in my oval.
It is a lot of work to get one to fit but it works .

You have to cut up the torsionbar in the middle because of the length of the UN1 and make custom brackets. You also need an adaptorplate to mount a T25 bellhousing to the UN1.
The rest is straight forward.

If you want I can post some pics of my car.

Michael,

Thanks for the info and I'd love to see any pics of your build up! I have a very solid original 63 that I am planning the work for, I have a few of the un1 boxes available too, which did you decide to use as there are a few different ratios available. I am thinking the renault 25 turbo or atmo gta alpine final drives maybe be best, what are your thoughts?

I know the boxes are very strong but have you found any weaknesses in the design? I am hoping to drag race with the box and I dont want to have to keep rebuilding boxes. what have you done about axles etc? I would be very appriciative of any advice.

How did you go about the adaptor plate, did you machine something up yourself?

Cheers, John.

He runs the 9's with a porsche 930 box FYI. That 930 tranny is converted to sequential shifting and has straight gears. i think his box is more expensive then his engine, which also had a lot of work done to it...
