Not much of an update this time.
Mounted the gearbox and trailerarms to see how it all fits. the trunk floor will be raised by +/-2,5 inch, this way I have room for the gearbox, rollcage and coilovers.

The rear is narrowed quit a bit, and I did not whant to fuck up the inner wings.
Here's the plan, widen the mounts where the inner wings are bolted to the pan.

It's getting pretty heavy indeed, first I am making it save and driveble then it's engine time. Wink
This is a STREET/strip car, 1/4 mile must be fast but first I have to drive 300KM's to get there Cool

Here are a few pic's of yesterday morning.
1) Started with widening the right innerwing mount.
2) Then I had to make the inside of the rearshock mounts flat so that i could weld a pipe there.

Worked on a new idea again. I do not have the framehorns anymore but I still need something to mount the gearbox to.
Under the gearbox is no space with the IRS points this close to eachother and over the gearbox is difficult with the starter and coilovers.
This new set-up combines the framehorn replacements and shock mounts. the framehorn replacements will be attached to the cage (in the trunk area)

I am still thinking about this set-up, not sure it will stay.

I think the upper mounting point for the coilover is too much forward to be able to work properly. Wink

Why don't you get a hi-torq starter,they are shorter and lighter and leave you more room for the shocks.

Bin working on the gearbox mount some more. Made new upper pipes and changed the pipe that goes under de bellhouse, made some gearbox height adjusters with left & right thread and tacked it all together.

Don't know wich porsche bolts you mean, I don't think that porsche had an eccentric set-up like this.

They look like regular ones (not with the extra disc on it), but they're exentric. As far as I know they're from a 944.

I'll try to take a picture tomorow.

Started on the upper shock mounts, there will be several mounting points so that i can choose wich one is the best set-up.

When i am completly satisfied I will weld them in there final position.
Also fitted the IRS bolts that I bought from Marco, Never tought that there was this much adjustment possible with these bolts Cool

And again I worked on the rear shocks, it's almost getting boring Tongue

Drilled holes to mount the top with bolts, I will drill some more holes to choose the right set-up.
Then made a bracket to mount the bottom of the shocks in the right angle.

Don't mind the temporary bolts Embarrassed

After a 2 week holiday in the south of France and an even more exhaustive weekend at EBI#3, I found a little time for the car again.

First fitted the hi-tork starter that i ordered i the USA.
Made the lower shock mount for the right coilover and picked-up a piece for the new front suspension.

Today I finnished welding the rear construction on all the reachable points, took out the gearbox and trailing arms, fliped the pan and welded the rest.

Time for the next project; Porsche 914 frontsuspension with 944 brakes mounted on a '56 pan Shocked.

Already did some measurements and it does looks better as I thought.
First I have to machine the 944 hubs to fit the 914 spindles. (it seems that the spindles have the same measurements as my type1 1300 spindles)

Here's how to modify the spindles to accept bug beerings. Cool sorry, it's dutch Embarrassed

They are not Mcphearson stuts, that are the shocks, the tubes pointing forewards are the torsion bars (in the lenght of the car) Same as early 911's Cool.

I use the original front of the 914 to check measurements.
