Not much done this week, to manny things to do in to little time Sad

I took a picture of how the Porsche arms whould sit with the wright space between front and rear wheels. The torsion bars are to much to the front of the car, I will try to replace the A-arms on the torsion tubes and mount the whole suspension further back.

Received the new Porsche balljoints, and left the 914 spindles and 944 hubs at our machinist to make it fit.

Today I bought a 2th set of wheels, they have fresh paint and I could't leaave them for the money. Cool

anyone has more info about these wheels?

I wasn't happy with the gearbox height adjusters, so I had our machinist make a new set.

The new set has the same radius as the cage and has a smaller part to fit inside the cagepipes.

Most of my "bug-time" was used to meassure and do some thinking yesterday. Finaly I took out the angle grinder and cut one of the Porsche A-arm's.
The plan is to weld the A-arm futher forward on the torsionbar tube, this way the porsche arms can be mounted further backwards, have the original beetle wheelbase and don't stick out the front of the car.

Today I tack welded the modified a-arm, it looks like it will fit now Cool
Next thing weld it and start with number two.

Here's a pic with the original on the left and midified on the right.

Still working on the Porsche A-arms.

Did some repairwork, changed the second arm and welded both of them.
On the pictures they look worse as they are in real live. Saturday I will receive the machined 944 hubs, than I can start measuring again.

Today the parts to fit 944 brakes on the 914 (same as beetle) spindles arived  Cheesy

The 944 hubs are shortend and the inside is machined to make the special bushes fit.
The hub has to be heated and the bushes go in the freezer, this way they will fit and stay in position. (shrinkfit)
With these bushes the 944 hubs will except original beetle beerings Cool

I heated the 944 hubs, put the rings and bearingshels in the freezer. When all the parts hit the wright temperature the rings and bearingshels droped right in Cool

Result; 914 legs with 944 hubs and rotors Grin

Then I sandblasted the 2 halves and tackwelded them. The steeringbox brackets are still there to fixate the beam wile I weld it.

Here's the beam ready. Compared with an original beetle front, this is 6cm narowed. It's laying on the undersite of the chassis.
Already removed the framehead site plates.
