Slow progress, but we have made some head way.
I have gone through many changes for engine spec, which has slowed everything down and meant it has cost me twice as much!
any way it is a 84 x 94, will be using a custom crank and the new B & P's that will hit the market in the near future.
CB raised deck case, needing to be modified for the dry sump system I will be running.
Raptor cam and followers, hopefully using my old heads which are 44 x 37 at about 11:1CR.
Crank is assembled and balanced.
Case has been modified and checked for crank cam (raptor) fit. Bearings have been modified accordingly.
Made some bits for the carbs, and my new oil filter is sat on my desk.

Slowly, very slowly this is coming together. Next on the list are the heads, then it is ready.
The rod bolts need replacing as the readings for stretch and torque aren't good enough. Having to wait as these had to be ordered.

latest couple of updates.
Changed the heads, now running CB CNC wedgeports 42 x 37. CR is going to be a tame 9.7ish, and also ditching the Manton pushrods for some aluminium ones.
Should be buttoned up in a couple of weeks.
Now the only problem is a: seeing if I use my DDS manifolds with those heads or stump for the matching manifolds from CB.
Does anybody know if they do a short version?

No short matching manifolds from CB. I had to cut mine down a lot.

Rods and bolts new, they were scat. Bolts have now been replaced with new ARP ones.
i know the manifolds need a lot of welding, but i really want to try and run them. They have had some welding already to fit my old heads. Seems silly to buy new manifolds from CB and then cut them down, defeats the point of having them cnc match ported. I should have kept my other shorties i had lying around. oh well.

Well as is the vogue at the moment its time for an update.
the engine is done, I now need to collect it. A few problems on the way. Not helped by my cam giving me over .6" of lift!
So the long block is done.
There have been lots of issues along the way.
The arp rod bolts stretched, so had to be replaced. The barrels and pistons were not round. These had to be changed. The cam was giving too much lift compared to the specification card so I am having to run 1.25 rockers rather than the 1.4s. Also broke 3 pick up tubes trying to relocate the pick up and bending it to fit.
When I collect it in the new year, I will post a few pics. The CR is 10:1 which should help with its life span as it will be a street car.
Next = fit and modify the tinware. Then it will be taken back and fired up to break in the cam, jet the carbs and dyno it.
I will then remove the tinware and paint it in some Kandy.

Cool..... You need to get on it man!
Renewed enthusiasm that comes with having the engine done.... Gotta keep up the momentum!
Want my advice? No?
Oh well, here it is anyway!
Ditch those Ali door panels, they're not working IMHO...... Pretty easy & not expensive to get some panels made up to match the Beard seats....or if the budget stretches, some of my favourite interiors have the beard seats, I'm thinking in your car done old school style an off-white/bone coloured vinyl with a plaid cloth insert maybe picking up on the blue of the bodywork....
And if you're having to re-do any paintwork how about some colour coded upright headlights?

Picked up the engine today, yep it took almost 8 weeks (you try doing this whilst working, studying part time for a Masters Degree and also keeping the family sweet).
I will take some pics tomorrow and upload them.
It is now sat on a trolley in the dinning room at home. I have a weeks holiday coming up and the plan is to start modifying the tin wear.
Poped over to Jicks as well to catch up, mustangs roof is very cool.

Done one thing. New bracket for oil filler. The one it had didn't fit the generator stand. Needs sanding and grinding then powder coat

Another little step in the right direction. Fitted the Alternator, backing plates etc to the shroud ready for mocking.
Alternator stand is primed and ready for paint.
engine is going on its new stand tomorrow so the real work will start on the tinware.

This engine does not want to be put together. It is fighting me all the way.
Problem #1 - The A1 low down exhaust does not clear the oil fittings. Okay lets get another exhaust, this time clears all the fittings but is 4mm too short and interferes with the oil pump. Trying another exhaust and then possibly welding thicker exhaust flanges to the header to provide the clearance needed.
Problem #2 - Picked up the new CSP bell crank linkage. It now comes with a billet base, this means the stud it mounts to is not long enough and it doesn't seat properly. So I have removed the stud, machined the case ,use of die grinder to spot the face and flatten the case at this point. I now need to get a 60mm stud so that it can be put back together.
Picked up the missing tinware at Stanford Hall today, so I can now start on trimming them to fit.

In the end I had to put my hand deep in my pocket and buy a 45 mm CSP Python exhaust.
I am now in the process of cutting the tinware and welding it so it fits!
