Tyre clearance with adjustable spring plates

Good morning folks.

Would either of the following tyre sizes on a short axle equipped `71 beetle have clearance issues with adjustable springplates? (it has 6j x 15" Fuchs)

195/65/15,
205/65/15,
or 215/65/15?

I'll try and post a pic. later, but the current 185/65/15's are looking a bit lost....

Hello Martin You said short Axle? A 71 Beetle would be IRS which is like a 67 or 68 bug long alxe Did you Change it to a Swing Axle? On My Car I Had A 205/65x15 but I think it looked a little to fat for the Wheel so I went to a 195/65x15 I like the look much better it fits the wheel better and looks good in the fender without over powering the look of the fender well opening  thats my 2 cents hope it helps!!!!

Shubee,euro cars are still swingaxle,we only got irs on autosticks & super beetles,
you should be ok with the 205 but the 215 might get a little tight,cheers richie,uk

Thankyou for your replies folks, I should have put it was a euro. spec. swingaxle car with earlier pre-66 short axles fitted. 

Here's a few pics., don't want to go to adjustable springplates if at all possible (asked as they were suggested to me as a solution rather than changing tyres).

I want to keep the rear at stock height, would like something a bit taller to fill the arch a little better- don't mind going a bit wider on width, but nothing taller than a 65 profile.
