I know there were dkp lll badges, because damen and pep had them on their cars a few years ago.

I now know of another badge fitted to a non DKP car, but it looks good and the car looks right, does this make it wrong ?
IMHO, yes. It's like running around with the club badges in the window of your car, when you're not a member. That's why DKP had 'sponsor' T-shirts printed so they could be worn by people who appreciate what the club stands for without pretending to be members. And why member's decals are (generally) scratched from a car when it's sold. I admire everything the DAS and DFL guys have done for the European scene, but i wouldn't dream of putting their club badges or decals on a car of mine (if i had one worthy of it!) unless I was lucky enough to be a member. But then that's just me!

I personally think Arnie wants to keep the legend DKP I on this car, otherwise he wouldn't have sold it to Russell, everybody knows the car will reside at a caring home, with a big heart for DKP and the spirit

I think when this car or any car was running its day and a member of the club the removal of the stickers would have been correct, but in 2006 when they are now collectors items the stickers are part of the memory. Removing them removes the character i think.
These were likely to be removed in the day only when the member or car were not up top scratch, but the club does not exsist as was and therefore this should not be a problem ?

I agree – in this case the decals should stay.
I think everyone's got the wrong end of the stick here. What I can't understand are people who are not club members buying badges/decals and putting them on their car and pretending. If someone hasn't been asked to join, they shouldn't pretend they have. There are plenty of other clubs out there!

...I suppose the difference is that the DKP is as much about the PERSON as it is the car.. it's the Member. So if he/she(!) decides to put a club sticker/badge on one of their other cars... that's up to them.. whether its another VW, a Porsche, an Audi, an Allegro...

You know, you guys are too cool! One day I might have a fast street car (again) and see if I'm worthy! In the meantime, I'll have to be content with being a member of the AA!
Have a cool Yule everybody!

As member of the AA you should be very careful, especially at this time of the year!
It only takes a couple of drinks before you're over the limit.
Happy christmas one and all.
The other AA club has a new T-shirt!

Thanks, the wrong end of the stick is easy on forums !
As you know i love the cars and the History, thats whats is all about, not which club i wish i was in because its cool !
A club is like a family, you should be appreaciated and appreciate others.

Cheers Russell , coming from someone such as yourself , with a truckload ( quite literally mate ( in a Smashie & Nicey style voice ) ) of high quality Cal-Look machinery , that means a lot !
We had the club meal last night , and we are all excited about next year , and looking forward to making it a top Cal-Look year of events , racing and general larking about , but most importantly driving the cars !!
