am on a mac, so can't copy pictures from the thread, because i don't know how...
but i will when i get back...

http://volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=514417

but here's the story till now...

i bought this a few months ago, as it had new heater channels, lower 1/4's pan halfs and rear body mounts, but i knew it needed front and rear bumper mounts...

the aim is to build a repica of my uncles old cal look bug

a few bits will be different, going to run blade bumpers,a stinger, upright wings and a 67 decklid!

i was emailed some pics from the late 80's (87-89) from a guy off of vzi.

the guy who built the car (the short one)

early bug jam?

after he sold it, not sure where it went, then a few years ago a guy in the vw club said it was sat on a drive in wembley  as he used to see a black guy driving it around in the mid 90's, i never got shown to where it was, and then it must of got scrapped Huh Sad but i still have the rear state plate on my bedroom wall!

after digging about, taking the fuel tank out, etc...
found out it needs the whole upper bulkhead, where it has rotted out, where the drainage tube used to be... it currently looks like this... uh oh!

its being collected tomorrow for welding to have a whole pre 67 front clip fitted, bulkhead repaired, rear valence, bumper mounts and engine bay side trays, oh and the dash smoothed and have the trim holes and fuel filler flap welded up and a few other bits and bobs aswell  Cool

to be honest, if it was a better car i wouldn't even be thinking about dechroming it and having the dash welded up! it should of really been scrapped by the last owner! Shocked but thanks to him, it was saved!
the guy who did all the welding before had a thing for nice thick seam sealer...  Roll Eyes i've picked some of it off, and the welding is really good! luckily the welds can just be ground down.

i'll add pics when bits have been done!
