First is this all new or used? if used allow for a valve job and some springs, best to start of all good Smiley   My choice would be  K8 or fk44 both with 1.4 rockers, chromoly push rods.
Rods,I would go for h beams, you could use i beams but they are heavier, personally i would put 5.5s in it but 5.4s would be ok
Compression 8.7 upwards, what is this going in? full weight car or light buggy Wink
1 5/8 merged header with your choice of muffler[in a bug dual quiet packs]
I would use a scat crank, just had good luck with them myself & it would be 84mm stroke, but then I would use 94mm piston/cylinders
cheers richie,uk

PS and lose the idas, they are to old and badly designed Shocked

Hey Richie - I was hoping you would reply Wink  Grin

The parts I have are a pair of IDA's with match ported manifolds, Scat Pro comp heads 40x37.5 D ports cut for 90.5/92's with 56cc chambers and a 1 5/8 stainless header - They are second hand but have only done approx 1500 miles

I was thinking of a 84x94 motor but this would mean machining out the the heads - would this be ok  Huh

Also the engine will be going in my new Street racer Bug/ 70's Cal Looker  Grin Grin Grin

Why do you say don't use the IDA's Huh and what would you use instead  Huh would it involve lots of tubing and a spinny thing  Wink

So what would be your ultimate spec for a street going 2332  Huh  Smiley

WHAT'S UP WID DA BOOM BOOM???

« Reply #5 on: December 10, 2006, 03:07:43 am »

82 X 90.5 -- yeah now we're talking.  I'm collecting parts for this combo myself.

So far I've collected:

Case--late 70s fuel injection case
Crank--CB forged/nitrided 82mm
Rods--RIMCO Super Rods
P/Cs--Mahle
Heads--VW 043 worked by K-Roc.  40x35.5, 186 CFM @ .600"
CB 1.4 ratio rockers, dual springs
Web 86B cam
Magnum gears
CB 28mm lifters
Dellorto 48 DRLAs

I'm going to try and have the shortblock underway over the winter (altho I am not sure how that will really go).  Once it is done, if it runs solidly down in the 13s on street tires I'll be really happy.

I will run 86 x 94 with AA pistons and Barrels.  10:1cr 44 x 37 heads IDA's (Which i will change to EFI cuz they are shit;)) and using a webcam 86b cam for street use.

Should be good for 200bhp+

Only need a a couple of bits and it can be put together.

I definitely don't know anything, (I work in an office for a start! Shocked) but you're welcome over anytime. Richie's 84/94 suggestion makes sense to me, a big lazy is good for the street I think.  Smiley
