What a great car and fine example of the marque. Hope that it goes to a loving home and gets restored back to it's showroom glory.

very rare and elegant touring car. I think the Type 57 was rumored to be be Ettore's son's (Jean) personal favorite.
there was one variation clothed in MAGNESUIUM bodywork, very striking looking, with 2 halves of bodywork coming together at a longitudinal "spine".... Bugattis....mmm....  well at least the original ones from France. The new Audi/VW thing is an abortion in my opinion. Godawful.

In 1926 it run in Monaco. But i am to big for this type of cars, absolutly! Grin It was big fun to sit in that little "racecar" and now i know why they call Bentleys "trucks" Shocked

Ok, its also not my cup of tea, but its a car over 80 yers old and it was realy realy fast on the nordschleife.

I like old Porsches better, but i havent to pay for that ride and also for the hole weekend because the
guys from the orga-team invited us. It was a Mercedes Benz Event and they want to have some other cars
around their silver-arrows... So the hole number was for free! And to sit in the vip-tent drinking beer beside
Jochen Maas (who drove the W125 and 154..) was.. eh.. lets say: nice  Wink

Question answered...

A car abandoned in a garage in Britain for half a century sold at an auction in Paris for euro3.4 million (about $4.4 million) Friday.

The 1937 Bugatti Type 57S went under the hammer at Bonhams' Retromobile car show and sale in Paris. It was sold on behalf of the family of its last owner, Dr Harold Carr.

The orthopedic surgeon drove the car for several years, but in the early 1960s it was parked in his garage in Gosforth, near Newcastle in northern England, where it remained for nearly 50 years until his death in 2007.

Bugatti once represented the height of motoring achievement. The supercar was so ahead of its time it could go up to 130 mph (209 kph) when most other cars topped out about 50 mph (80 kph).

This particular car is especially valuable because it was originally owned by Earl Howe, a prominent British race car driver, and because its original equipment is intact, so it can restored without relying on replacement parts.

Bonham's said a European collector bought the car.
