I like the tachometer mount that you have on your car.  I like how it mounts to the dash through what used to be the brake warning light hole and also has the tach. wires running through it.  Did you fab that yourself?  I thought about making something similar to that, very nice.

Thanks Jeff68, Yes I fabed it with the help of Mark V. at Berg's. The wire's don't go through the mount but down through the vent hole, used shrink tubing too try to make it neat. I did make one a long time ago with an access hole for the wire's but never used it, I think I had made it too short. I didn't want to make any holes anywhere so thats why I used the brake warning light hole. Worked very well! The back of the tach rest against the dash to make it stable.  Grin

lee, according to the vw and porsche feature mike had a perforated tan vinyl headliner (obviously that goes for the visors as well)
though, if you were to order one from TMI it looks like an adhesive plaster ...

gotta LOVE that interior though Smiley

Driving Hot VWs for 44 Years Strong!

Here is a shot of my Cal Look dash in 1977, shortly after finishing my car. It was intended to be one of a kind, wild and crazy. It had a full set of OPEL GT gauges, plus a cassette, AM/FM.  I fabricated the dash out of wood, upholstered it and then installed it using all VDO sending units from the OPEL GT.  Had to make a few adapters but they worked great.

A shot of my 67 is pictured, with my RICANN personalized plate. It was our newlywed Friday night cruiser.

I'd like to see more pics from different angles of the EMPI padded dash topper. I have one to be installed into my 67.....
It seems that when I see these installed, the HL & wiper switches are very close to the pad. Almost looks crowded. Is this a poor install of the pad, or is that just the way it is?

And here is mine. notice the center defrost vent cut out...

Critter here is a pic of my EMPI dash topper.

Because who cares about looking at the rev counter at idle? It is more important to have a clear view where it matters. Function before beauty - as always!

Unfortunately, when AssHull wired it up he forgot to leave the wires a little long so we can turn in sideways. Now has to be straight Undecided

you can sort that easily enough ...
either extend the wires , or have a new dial face made with redline at the top and the needle reset .
i have had this done in the past , miles better than just rotating it Wink
