091 gearbox

How tuff are the bus boxes when they are in stock form,how much HP and abuse can they handle stock as they are?

When looking for a 091 gearbox,which year buses should I look at.From 75-79?or something like this

Does anyone have 091 gearbox code list,and distinctive feautures?

Looks like you are looking for the right years. Also an early aircooled type 25 box.

I know a guy who runs regular low 11s with a stock type 2 box with type 25 diff. The motor is a Subaru

I'm in the process of having a beefed/different ratios up type 2 box built. If I can help with info feel free to mail me.

How driveable are this transmissions for a street car with the gear rations they comw with?

There are several types of 091 the early arcooled ones are usually best as they are nose cone shift (same as bug, but higher up the case)

Having seen 091s used with great success in a bunch of consistently quick cars I decided on an 091 from Cogbox; for the intended application I don't see there being a better box and for what they offer they're an extremely cost effective option.

I use a 002 box - has the 5:37 R & P, stock gears - and i like the stock gearing for what i do with my car - Baja - running 31in tires in rear - but the gearing is still good - 74/75 gear box's have the 4:87 R & P - good box if you can find them - hard to get in nor cal.
