I'm also still looking for a good dual QP, I've tried the bugpack model and lost 20 hp on the dyno.  Angry  Angry   Normally I run a turbo style muffler.

Shubee maybe you would be so kind as to show me were the DUAL QP systems are on that site you posted the link to?

I cant see any and can find no mention to them,as this was the question originally asked and i would also like to try something that fits the mufflers further in

Maybe you had other problems; Rick's lost around 7 to 8hp over a stinger on Heads Ups Dyno. BTW Rick is using a 1 3/4 header with the BUGPACK mufflers.

I have a copy of their print catalog, and I recall seeing the merged duals listed in there.  You might want to email Pertronix and see if you can get a copy of their print catalog, or inquire directly about the mufflers.

there you have it:  I used the standard 1 5/8 DQP and that setup sucks.  I think if you use a 1 3/4 setup it would work great but I don't think you can buy this setup, If it's possible please let me know where, I will buy them immediately!  Grin

i think the bugpack mufflers only come in one size and it's just the header that is larger, right?

yep, I only found 1 5/8 mufflers: csp, bugpack, flat 4, ...  all of them are 1 5/8.  The bigger ones are handmade...  correct me if I'm wrong.

my bugpack came with a 1 1/2" header, but i'm pretty sure it's not smaller than your 1 5/8". just one size IMO.

the only difference between a 1 1/2 and a 1 5/8 is the position of the flange I guess...  Huh  size could be the same.

But I need neither of them, I want 1 3/4 DQP's  Grin

I have the Thunderbird standard exhaust with the dual mufflers (of course) and they do fit very nice. They are on my 67 street car.  Thick flanges and do tuck under like the old Four Tuned.   They also make 1 5/8 merge with dual mufflers also like the old Four Tuned.   Dave Rhoads

I have them on a 2027 with 8.5 compr. and are pretty quiet.  I have the Thunderbird dual mufflers. Very smooth and crisp sounding.   I have always liked this type of exhaust and sound better.       Dave Rhoads

I used to have the Bugpack merged 1 5/8" header on my Ghia with their dual q/p's and the sound was really nice, not as loud as the "bread-bin" turbo mufflers and nothing can beat the balanced look. Unfortunately, I caught the left hand one on a kerb when I was pulling out of a tight parking spot and bent it.

Thunderbird part # H3948 Dual muffler
Thunderbird part # H4111 15/8 Merge header

checking the thunderbird (pertronix) website, they still make the merged header, but don't list the muffler. i found a 2006 PDF and they show the dual muffler for merged. so i guess Benssp is right in that they no longer make them ? they just list the single quiet for merged...
Dave Rhoads what size are the scat/al's headers from the other thread 1 5/8s ?
thanks
