Haven't got that far... I suppose non-sand sealed but if you have a cherry sand seal one, It's not a big deal to cut my case. The last motor in the '67 was cut... it was when I was in pursuit of the dripless VW motor.

guys, sorry to go off-topic... but what is a sand seal? i read it's for off road use, but what does it do?
and with my standard (unmachined) case should i look for no sand seal?

You know the threads that are usually on the back of the crank pulley?? Well, for a sand seal, they machine those threads off, and install a thick rubber seal into the engine case. I personally havent found any benifit to this... Rick, next time Im at my dads house Ill dig up the nicest one Ive got. It may be a little while, but I wont forget you

LIke Zach said, it replaces the threaded groove arangement with a regular seal, Little if any benefit on a street motor. Keeps dirt out if you go off-road a lot,
