Driving Hot VWs for 44 Years Strong!

« on: February 15, 2009, 21:22:13 pm »

Here are some shots of my 57 Oval Ragtop winter project. It has Gas Burners on it. The body is done in gloss PPG Black Acrylic Urethane. I just finished buffing out the hood and front end in these shots.  The car is a no rust, never hit OVAL window ragtop.  It is done in the traditional dechromed Cal Look treatment with Empi Steering wheel, AUTOMETER Guages (more pictures to come when the dash is done), BERG Shifter, disc brake front end, chromed suspension pieces, etc.

It will have a wide axle (67) trans when I am done with stock gearing. The motor will be a 1915 with ported heads, dual 44 webers, full flow, deep sump, some vintage DEANO Valve covers and sump, along with other goodies.  It is about one month from completion.

I usually run stroker motors. In fact, the chop top will get a 2275 with IDAs soon.

in my avtar you can see the 2.4 with the porsche fan, the 2.7 looks like this:

Another sweet looking car Rick. A black oval rag has to be my favorite Cal-looker.

On another note, I will be in Phoenix March 9th & 10th visiting Donny B. and picking up my new project car. Be cool to meet up with you and check out your cars in person.

Will post some shots of the dash this weekend with the new white face autometer phantom gauges in the car. Also has some other goodies going into the interior this weekend.
