The first time I recall seeing them on a VW was Dave Galassi's double cab, but they were painted solid. Other than that Jim Kaforski's 62 was the first "polished and detailed" set I can remember.

They are like the iconic VW rim, even more so than the BRMs. With the GBs, even now that they are available as a repo, not everyone is running them. I wonder how a charcoal grey wheel on a black car would look. That might give the wheel enough contrast to not disappear. Of course if I ever lay my hands on a set of torq thrusts this will be a mute issue. --louis |

I'm feeling that, seriously. On the right color car it would look great. Red, green, or blue perhaps. As for the charcoal on black, I think a lighter gray or gunmetal could be effective on black. The really dark centers just DON'T work for me. But who cares what I think? |

Like that or just VERY slightly darker, with polished lip and ribs. Kind of looks like the centers are untouched but the polished parts give it some contrast.

The possibilities are endless for these wheels. All you need is an inset finish that sets you apart from others. Individualism within the main set of cal-look ideals is encouraged Never thought of the stock silver color and detailing. Looks good. You know you want to keep the mahles, louis. |

George,I only had the inset powdercoated. My powdercoater wanted to powder clear them after I polished them. But I was afraid of rock chips. Hindsight I should have done it. That powdercoat is tough stuff.
