i can imagine so, having your car stolen must be a nightmare!

sorry for asking, but i wasn't around back then, but was this a well-known car in the european cal-look scene back then?

Diederick,

there wasn't much of a "Cal Look scene", at least not in mainland Europe. I think the scene was bigger in England, that was at least my impression by reading Volksworld.
In the very small Cal Look community back then the twins 62 was an outstanding car. Back in 1996 (that sound like 5 min ago for Sarge and John Grin) there was just a handful Cal Look people on the old continent.

Thanks for the explanation, Georg!
So, did the scene over here on the mainland really pick up at the beginning of this decade, then? At least that's what I take from reading the stories on here.

I've heard of the twins, but I have no idea who they are. Forgive my ignorance  Wink

hey Died just to help you out a bit, on the first page there are some pics off a sunroof with americans on it and it has racing number 51 in the window from EBI. couple pics later you see the owner. Rolands car was also from them, but he allready told the story.

and xavier, the off-white goes pretty good with the sepia brown, good combination.  Grin

I am not into "rat look" VWs, but the one on the previous page is pretty sweet. It has good look to it and best of all its a late model, so no early VWs were harmed Grin. Any info or more pics on it?

Hello Lawrence the "rat look" your talking about is not calling "rat look" anymore... it's a style, we call them now VolksRod. Wink
This car was not a car whit DAS stickers but just a car build by 3 members... just for fun. Pat bring back a scrappy '68, Dav guive the seats and I guive te Engine.
The new owner modify the rear of the car in "hebmuler style" and the engine is now a 2.3 l.

I met him by hazard. Riding in brussel's park in the summer 2006. I took some pictures Smiley

This was my 68 offroad with 16" split wheels, 181 front beam and gearbox. Those pictures where taken at a 4x4 weekend back in august 1994. This was the first of several offroad bugs within our club. Der Offroad Division (DOD) was created.
