Just a quick update...
Looking OK – sitting high at the back here due to being moved back and forth in confined space.
Oops! Where did the fenders go? Or rather, where will the turn signals have gone... Lucas 488s await in the shadows.
Changed all fasteners to button-head stainless-steel while I'm about it...
Hate the stock Torrker centrecaps and don't really like the original-style American Racing cap, so measured up
and found early Fuchs caps can be made to fit. No problem at the back, but the fronts foul the stock VW grease
cap, so that needs to be shortened to allow the Fuchs cap to fit. Looks OK, yes? OK, I like it and that's all that matters…
Will be changing lug nuts to Porsche-style, too.
An extravagance but I couldn't pass these by. Two nicely restored Cotton Goff plate surrounds.
Really didn't like the all-white factory-style seats and interior, so bought a pair of these Cobra RS seats...
Fitted using cut-down VW seat frames (actually from a Brasilia!), which still need some fettling to look OK.
Seats are VERY comfortable and, with the black door panels, black leather Nardi wheel and rear seat delete,
really change the whole look.
Engine and 'box are now back out of the car as I'm changing the heads to some Jeff Denham-fettled 040s with matching
manifolds, courtesy of Jim Ratto. This means I will soon have for sale a pair of barely-used Comp Eliminators and matching
IDA manifolds all ported and done by Duncan & Nuss at Engine Machine Services. 48 x 38 valves etc. More details and pics
when they come off the engine...
Box is going up to Peter Englezos next week as there is a tight spot in it – don't want to risk a Berg Five and Quaife, so better safe than sorry.
That's all folks!
