Russell,
The Empi badge was cast into the fiberglass.
It was not a seperate piece.
Here is a pic from my hood.

No, they did not make hood badges.
However, the side badge from an Imp dune buggy is very close.

They did make that badge and sold them seperately. I have a couple. But yes not as a hood badge. Mine have a strip of two sided tape on the back of them. I also received them in the Richard Guarino collection.

No it's not. The license plate globes are much bigger. They did sell the big globes seperately as well, but they were not used in the fiberglass hood or the rear decklid.

Actually the Empi globe on the hood is MUCH bigger than those used on the license plate frames !
The globe used on the decklid is smaller than globe on the license plate frames.
The hood globe is the same size as those used on the sides of early Imp dune buggies.
The decklid globe is the same size as the "glove box" globe.
I'll include some pictures later.

Hey Richard,
There probably were some variations then. My NOS front hood has the EMPI globe the same size as the glovebox globe. If your globe is much bigger than the license plate globe than it's something I've never seen before. Even the rear decklids are different. I just sold the one that has the glovebox globe fiberglassed in it but I have another NOS one that doesn't even have the globe in it! It might be real early. Who knows! I haven't researched it yet in my old catalogs.

It shouldn't have the glovebox globe "fiberglassed in it", a real badge was used on the pattern to make the mold.
So the globe on the lid should be made totally of resin.
There was a guy a few years ago that was buying generic fiberglass parts and epoxying the repro Taiwan glovebox bages on them.
then he sprayed a layer of gel-coat on top and sold them for a healthy profit !
I know a few people who were unfortunately taken by the jerk.

Zach, that was a glovebox badge.
It was also used on the fanshroud, fiberglass back seat, etc..

Shubee, you are right.
For some reason I thought the license plate globes were somewhere in between the glovebox badges and Imp badges until I just went and matched them up.

Yes that's what I meant; that a real badge was used in the patern to make the plug or mold. No repo here.
