I met SOB on last years EBI, I would never have thought such a laid back (old  Wink) guy could drive such a hot car. The way he looked he should have been driving a real vintage vw, not a disguised and abused racecar. We talked cars and engines for a while, I had fun, much respect.

Happiness is indeed a HotVW. Race in Peace Sven-Olof!

We are deeply saddened about the news of Sven.  Our hearts are very heavy, and we are so sorry for your loss - Mia, Adrain, Benjamin, and the rest of the family.  Sven was an amazing man, and we are both so lucky to have met him, and be apart of his life.  We will keep him and his family in our hearts!  We are so glad we got a chance to meet him and spend time with him at EBI2.

Sven will be missed by so many!  Sven use to call Mark, and chat with him for hours, and after Mark died, Sven would call Mike, and talk to him for hours at a time. He called 2 weekends ago, and we chatted about the PowderPuff, and he was so excited for me and the ladies!  We will miss his kindness & his heart!

Mike said that Sven & Mark will now be together and talking about "Raw F--king Horsepower"

Rest in Peace Sven!

We Will Miss You Lots!

Mike & Susy

I would love to create/do two books for Sven's sons - Adrain & Benjamin.  If you have photos of Sven, and/or his car, please email it to me with information where the photo was taken (show or etc...), when the photos were taken & names of people in the photo.  I would really appreciate it!

Very sorry to hear this!  Cry

He was one of those few guys that think outside the box.
I loved his real street approach as well with the big 2,7 type 4 with type 1 cooling all made by himself. All very stealth.

RIP Sven.

I was lucky enough to meet Sven 6 or 7 years ago when he visited the US and did a story on DKP.  Sad to hear he's gone... hard to believe.

I could not believe this news when I heard it earlier today, I have been thinking about it ever since. It's sad beyond words, I owe him so much, so many phone calls, mails and ideas... The man was an oracle and had a refreshing take on every big "argument" out there, always with a conclusion that made you smile.

My thoughts and prayers go to his two boys and his wife, and his close friends.
You leave a great big hole in our harts and in the cal-look community Sven-Olof!

Rest in peace Sven

When I first heard about it today, I thought it could not be true.
The last time I met Sven-Olof was at EBI last summer. Good times!
Here we are with JHU listening to Mark and Paul Schley talking about their collaboration with engle in the 70´s. Thanks for the pic Fabs.
Like the Schley´s, Sven-Olof was somewhat of a legend in his own time.

Happiness is a hot VW! Rest in Peace.

I got the news yesterday. I,m still in denyal. We talked last week and he was very uppbeat about the changes he was doing to his car. I had the privelige to drive to Bug In with Sven last year and one on one we really got to know each other. He was a joy to discuss Hot vw with,a bank of info and even if we had different opinions ,we could always agree on the subject that Happiness is a Hot vw. Since I started my VW-shop we used to talk several times a week and he was always helpfull with any info he could give. I remember on incident from driving back from Belgium,we were discussing valve float so I told him "tell me when you here them float and I geared down to third on the autobahn and floored it. When we had pushed that poor single port 1600 to 120km/h he begged me to quit, he had to be back at work on monday. We had alot of laughs. My thoughts go to his wife and sons tonight.

It is a true loss to the VW scene.
We used to talk for hours and hours over the phone and the discussions were not just about VW's, we talked about life in general a lot as well.
He was the guy that learned me everything I needed to know when I started tuning VW's.

He was the benchmark, the guy to beat and a big reason why I continued to tune more and more.

Happiness is a hot VW, sadness is a loss of a good friend.

I can't believe it. I don't want to believe it. The VW scene across the world will be a poorer place without you, Sven. Race in peace, my friend.
