I think I am about to disappear up my own backside soon...... doing the final 'sweep' of weight-saving holes and trimming before paint, and I was wondering whether the front trans mount serves any purpose?

The trans is a T1 with an MSE nosecone, mounted on RLR raised mounts (solid). This being the case, does the nosecone mount do much? I did adapt a front mount a while ago so that i could bolt it in, but I am not sure it serves much purpose anymore, given how close it is to the mid-mount.

What is usual practice here on a racecar? I have my grinder in hand and I am ready to go!

cheers,

i just run with a solid mid and rear mount, no nose cone mount at all, seems fine to me, grind away!

The only purpose it could serve with a solidly mounted gearbox is that it aligns the gearbox to the factory location.  Since you have no connection to it, and you're raised, buck it off!

With mid and rear mount, the only thing the front mount adds is leverage to break the housing. IMHO
