I'd like to see photos if possible of different tire/wheel combos with a 14" wheel in front. Please include your tire size/brand, etc.
Thanks, ~DR

Thanks for the input guys! I've decided for sure that I'm going to run 14X5.5 front and 15X6 rear Alloys on my Oval (Yeah, Fuchs to some of you guys ). For the front, I'd like to buy a bolt on disc brake kit and retain my stock spindles unless somebody sells an aftermarket NON dropped disc brake spindle kit. Do the aftermarket kits clear 14" wheels? The rear will be re-drilled four lug type 3 drums on short axles... should be no problem there. Any input on the linkpin front disc kits would be appreciated... At least I'm finally working on it!! ~DR.

Stoked to hear of this, Dave. I'm curious to see what (if any) can be done with 14" Fuchs 911 wheels on the front, along with disc brakes. What are the options? That black '67 appears to have front discs and 14" wheels. So I'm guessing it's doable.

Yeah Fred, a balljoint car should be no problem as long as you use VW style rotors / calipers. I called Airkewld today to inquire about their disc brake kits using four piston Wilwood calipers... the look sweet, but will not clear the 14" wheel. Oh well, I like a challenge ~DR

I've often wondered about whether the aftermarket disc kits would clear the 14" wheels or not.

I'm not sure. Do you have your tires already? Since 14" tires are not very popular anymore, sizes and choices are somewhat limited. I've located Bridgestone 165/65-14 locally by telephone but I still need to see them in person. I really need to access a tire size calculator and figure out some choices. If I could find something like an old style Michelin or Pirelli in a 155-14, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. ~DR.

longstone sell 155r14 nankang tyres which are pretty cool. i might go for some NOS michelin mx 155r14 tyres that someone offered me. just to remind you, i wouldn't advise going (much) lower that 155/80 height, otherwise you will have a tiny front wheel. i'm going for 155r14 so that it will come out as high as a 135r15 just with a little more tyre and a little less wheel. but in my opinion going smaller will make it look like the front runners of a gasser let me know what you think

My goal is to end up with a tire that is roughly the same outside diameter as a 135-15, but has more width like a 155... I plan on running my car pretty low in front, and since it's an Oval with correct front fenders (slightly smaller wheel well opening) the 14's seemed like a good match... plus you don't see that combo everyday. The 155r14 Michelins sound cool... that size is hard to find in the U.S. ~DR.

glad to hear we think alike i have been playing around with the idea of 175/70 front tyres, bit like a few late 70ies lookers but with a 5.5" rim that would be slightly too large. i don't really wanna end up with a big sidewall on the front. once i get my setup sorted i'll post pics in my topic.

Sounds good.
I've located Firestone 155-14's locally and I'm going to take a look at them. The price is fair... If they're not ugly, I'll buy 'em.
