Just got these early Scat Porsche Journal 5'500 Rods...does anybody know how much Power they can take???

Those are Scat Promoly rods and they are scary SCARY SCARY!!!  These rods have the bolts built into the caps, meaning that you cannot replace them.  On top of that they are a CAST ROD!  I have a set of these that we pulled out of a sandrail motor and I wouldn't give them to my worst enemy.

Just my opinion, but I wouldn't put them in anything other than a blow-up motor- that's my plan for my set at least...

I also have a set of those rods with Capri journal. Do you actually know of anyone who has had a failure with those rods or is it just hearsay.What do mean by a cast rod? I thought all rods are forged. If a rod is cast I would say the bolts wouldnt be your greatest concern. Please enlighten me about the facts on those rods.

I only know that these rods ALL broke in some Type 4 engines some years ago . The porsche rods for example are very stronger.

Thanxs for your Info's!!!

I've decided to stay with my Short Porsche Journal Carrillo Rods...or if there is somebody open for a Trade I have a perfect Set of 5'352 Carrillo's I would trade for a Set 5'500 Porsche Journal Carrillo's in the Same Condition!!!
