Okay... I don't mean to be weird, but why does the left rear fender have the overrider hole (plugged) and the right side does not? Forgive me if I'm not seeing it. I AM old and my eyes are like that of a person 50 years older than me. Sorry in advance, if I'm wrong.

Maybe it's for that Moroso "ON/OFF" Switch.... Wink Huh

Good eye!! Fred

Left rear is fitted with plug which I hate. I wanted to use stock gromet and left the hole open like front apron. Right side fender came as no hole and I was going to make a hole but it was 3am on Saturday night. I arleady made enough bung sound and I can not go on and on...my neighbor will kill me for that.
So, I just use plug on left fender.

Moroso kill switch will be mounted on right side of rear quarter panel.

This engine was once intalled on the white '67 of XXXXXXX and can be seen on Hot VWs magazine. Guess who?
However, the heads need to be re-welded and fix. Need new guide and seats.

So .
- Small displacement with high compression
- White '67  (with blue lettering on the side )

Hummmm ... i vote for :  Mike Smith

Charlie

Nice guess! Indeed it's ex Mike Smith engine and spec goes like this.

69mm crank wedgemated to stock weight flywheel
88mm P/C w/deel valve pockets
Carrillo's(I need to measure them for the length)
Engle FK-89
Welded VW Heads (42mmx37.5mm? I have to re-check)
etc.etc.

I have to take it out from the car this weeked and check everything!!
It should be fun engine to deal with!

For the event to show it, I changed it's linkage to old original EMPI IDA linkage and use MOONEYES Breeather box which looks so cool!! and I did not have Stinger ignition system in hand and I just put Vertex magneto. I will take some photo and post later

Hi .

42/37.5 for 88 the int valves are very close to wall cylinder .
Eric Ballard (Erco) use 40 int. for this small engine NHRA record.

Thanks to share this new project .
