Had a nice time yesterday afternoon. The weather was close to 80 degrees making for summer like conditions. I took some pics and will try to post a few up tonight. Longtime DKP member Art Alvarez had his Chevy wagon there last night after winning the Boyd Coddington Memorial trophy at the Del Mar hot rod show earlier in the day.... a HUGE honor! John Lazenby drove one of his Chryslers (almost a city block long, it seemed) and also took a ride in Bill Schwimmer's rig (further setting the VW hook).

Looks like a fun time. John, I think of the '57 Fury in Christine every time I see one of those old Chryslers. I remember an old girlfriend of mine's father had a '61 New Yorker with a square steering wheel, that was unique.

Actually Christine was a '58 Plymouth which is very similar to the 57. The general lines of Virgil Exner's styling was carried thoughout the entire Chrysler product line at the time. I guess I swayed because I own the 300C, but it was the high water mark of all of the Chrysler products for 1957 and to prove that it was Motor Trend's car of the year.

Most of the "Mopar Crowd" of which I don't include myself (I drive Chryslers and there is a difference) fits right in with that image.

Hi John, the 300 sure is a pretty car.... nice engine detail. Me and Jim K were trying to figure out the brake servo... does the bellows MOVE? Have a fun ride in Bill's car? That motor is almost as old as me, and it still kicks ass.

The wagon to me looks like a Malibu. Novas were shorter and boxier. It being a 2 door is RARE

The Malibu/Chevelle wagon is, indeed, a RARE two door. Hardly see 'em on the road, these days.
By the way, if anyone's interested in buying a '64 sunroof... that picture (IMG 5363) Sarge just posted is it and it's Mike Herbert's. Contact him if you're interested. New pan half (maybe both) replaced and all of the mechanical stuff has been gone through. I think he mentioned the price being $2,800 or even lower.

A nice little fixer-upper.... barely driven by a little old lady. Here is a man who is sold on an idea... He DOES have that look about him now that you mention it! Sarge COOL pictures!! How about a photo shoot of you car, alongside these two would rock!!
Thanks for the kind words!! Rick Sadler (yellow) and Tim Walton (blue) hope to become the club's newest members next month. What we really need is a certain orange '67 to brighten things up even more... Your welcome, bro!
