Saw them a couple of days ago (not in person)  I think they are being shown at Bug In 34 iirc. They look quite nice, not sure if they have they look old school enough though. |

I quite like the originals, because they are different, and very rare. The reproductions look too clean, the rims are fine polished, but the centre of the wheels should be available in a brushed or unpolished finish IMHO.

I believe the "DDM" in the wheels description stand for the late David Mayes initials. He was the one who lent them an original to copy. I think the top picture was his wheel.  |

X2 - they need to be satin finish - The repops look too much like 90s billet hot rod crap. |

I've stated this before. This is the wheel that Richard Nixon's (yes, that Nixon) nephew said he had created. The first time I saw them was at Bob's on Whittier Blvd. back in 1964 on Nixon's red sedan. Didn't like them then and don't today, but I'd like to have a set of originals like Art Alverez does.

I kinda like the originals, as said they are different to the norm.
Very soon now, a set will turn up on a really wild ride and we'll all be saying how cool these wheels look on the 'Right' car...
I love old school, but to be honest I do get kinda tired of seeing so many similar wheels on so many cars and I wouldn't mind at all if somebody brave enough tries to go a different route with their wheels?
Any takers?

I've already apologized for having owned a pair of monkey butt ugly Walker wheels some thirty yrs ago. So ugly in fact, I ran them on 55 oval with a Domus stake bed kit.....equally ugly. Old issues of Car Guide magazine had ads from Continental wheel in Long Beach showing those wheels. No I didn't build it, just bought it for five bills with a snapped crank. The Walkers came later. Sorry if I spoiled your appetite. |
