Cheers for the good words fellas. Looking forward to spanking it up the strip at Garys Picnic myself. Can't wait for some one on one action
Ron, think you can make it? Don't worry if you're still running on carbs

I would love to make Gary's, I should know by the end of the week.
If I get my parts delivered by then, I'm in with a chance. As of this morning the parts coming from the states have cleared customs and the I've a email from CSP saying my head studs are being processed so you never know
Cant wait to see yours run, can you remind me what gear ratios and spec gearbox you have?? I still running a rancho pro street with a few extras. it will be interesting to see if my box stands up to the extra HP

Yup, mines a rancho pro street too. Stock ratios, 4.125 r/p, 0.89 4th gear with welded gears, super diff and h/d side plate. Also running short SAW race axles.
Was good for 150bhp. Only one way to find out what its like for 200bhp...

Gyles did you get the upgrade for the first gear ??
My box has a super beetle first but the rest of your spec is the same as mine. The only diference is I have the 3..88 r/p.
I will have the ZF diff fiited before Gary's which I'm told is stronger
As you say time will tell

Great weekend had at Shakey for Garys Picnic. Even rain on saturday and plenty of oil downs didn't stop the atmosphere being great.
Steadily getting used to the new motor and how it pulls. Managed to get my time down to a
new PB of 13.55
, so still a way to go to the 12's but I think its do-able.
I am confident that I would have managed to get the times down a few more tenths over the weekend, but on the monday I had a couple of runs where the 'box popped out of first on the start. Probably should have taken the warning as read, but decided to carry on (now without fanbelt) for one more run
. Popped out of first again so slammed it into second and carried on but by the eighth mile the 'box sounded like it was chewing rocks
. There ended my weekend of racing, but at least I still have the 12's to look forward to eh

Sorry to learn about your gearbox.
Regarding your 12, how much do the car weigh?

Never weighed the car BB. Its got a full 1200 interior and very few weight saving items, so I guess it must be 900kg?

900kg = 1980lbs / 194.6 flywheel hp - 10% (?) 175 at the back wheels = 13.101 and 104 mph. If the 194,6 is at the rear wheels = 12.61 and 108 mph.

Blody Hell BB, you got maths bad
But thanks. Does that depend on the gearbox ratios or just the driver?

That is just a very simple calculation of a theoretical ET based on the cars weight and the HP but it has a tendency to be quite correct. Yes, your ratios will count and need to match your engine. No need for "race" ratios for your car with the current engine but on the other side it would benefit from a high ratio to get out from the line quickly due to the heavy weight. It is a little give and take

Woahh its Jamie!
Long time no hear dude. Thought youd dropped off the face of the earth after I didnt see you at Volksworld Show. Hows yer shit?
Not sure what I'm doing with the box yet. Still not been brave enough to drain the oil and the car is still on the trailer where I left it. First step is to have a word with Peter at Cogbox and see what he can sort me out with. Trouble is I want to race and cruise so thats either not gonna happen or be really expensive
Got any cheap unwnated five speed boxes up your way
