Yes, the blue Oval is making a comeback after spending many years in the open

Keith,

I've been told that wisdom comes with age, loss of hair and what little remains turning gray or white.  All of the previous has occured to me, but I'm still seeking wisdom, how about you??

Back in High School Pete Dayton, Gary Huggins and my self along with many others wore British Walker Saddle shoes.  Possibly next time you skip across the "pond" you can bring me a real British Walker............ Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I remember first seeing Chris Jory's Oval around 1986 at a local, monthly Rod/custom meet (VW only meetings were still pretty rare back then, even in the Southend area). It was,up to then, the cleanest VW I had ever seen, one of the key cars that got me interested in Ovals and Cal look. Cool

Gary Constable was a family friend and I first saw his Fastback at my Sister's place around 86/87,it was one of the first VW's with graphic's I had seen. Grin

I got in trouble for selling his T-Shirts at school...very amusing when he rang my mum thinking I was up to no good, she just said 'nice aren't they, are they selling well?' Grin

Cool video. But I beg to differ regarding the part where it states that Fastbacks aren't (weren't) Cal Looked (modified) in America. We had, in my opinion, the best looking one in our club during 1980/'81. It was completely dechromed, had perfect stance, one of the BEST black paint jobs ever, and a set of Fuchs 911 alloy wheels. I forgot what he had for an engine. Saw it out on Whittier Blvd. every weekend. There a few others out there, but the black one still remains my favorite one to this day.

Sorry for the thread derailment, just wanted to clarify something. If was air cooled and VW, it was Cal Looked in So Cal. Perhaps not as popular as the Bug, but there were no rules.

Hey Fred, go easy on me! Grin It was a long time ago and all we had to go on was what we saw in Hot VWs (when we could get it) and VW Trends (which I hated). Kiss

HAHA!! It's all good, Keith. Just yankin' yer chain a little. I totally understand that all you had were the mags, back then. I do wish that I had pics of that Fastback. GORGEOUS! Hey, Ramirez... wasn't he your friend? Do any of the other DEEKS have any documentation of that car? I also dug on how he smoothed out the flat spot on the hood where the VW badge once was. VERY classy and it looked factory. I want to guess that it was a '70 and later body with the more squared off leading edge on the hood/bonnet.
