This weekend for the first time in several years stateside there is a good field of cars in VW Pro mod, with 9 definates and possibly morecars showing,
3 are 8 sec cars with Eric madson,Eric calabrese and Frank Estrada, and the 2 potential more in Hector urias[9.04 best] and Pat Mcdermott in the fiat 850 [9.11best]the rest made up with mainly 9 sec cars it should be a record setting weekend,I will be running the cabrio along side them for the first time and will have the best seat in the house Cheesy to see the action in the other lane, hopefully they can drag me along with them to improve my own best, qualifying starts tonight and the cool sacremento night air is supposed to help the times fall Shocked Wink Cheesy

More updates as the weekend goes on

Well its 9s at 5 different tracks now, today was an incredible day, no problems with tech and 12 cars turned up for Pro mod, first qualifier and my car was making some really good power,it liked the cooler air but the clutch just slipped all the way up the track and I managed a 9.97@135ish,Eric calabrese was No 1 with a 8.64,Hector urias no2 with a 9.28,myself at no3 as several cars had issues getting down the track,as there wasnt time to pull the motor to swap the clutch out between qualifiers I decided to turn it down and see if it would hold less power.I know,I know those that really know me are thinking what the hell,he never does that but we did Smiley

So 2nd round and it has cooled down some more,I am lined up against the fiat 850 of Pat mcdermott, now I know this car is really fast so its going to be fun seeing him from close up,well had a little trouble with the burnout as I was gestured to do it before the water even for some strange reason,,anyway the car launched hooked a little to the right but just kept pulling so I kept with it and I was still ahead, crossed the finish line first so figured it was a good pass, and it was

9.33@149.28mph to Pats quicker 9.24@154mph yes I  had beaten my personal best by over 3/10ths

So after 2nd qualifying it stands at Eric calabrese 1,8.64,Pat Mcdermott 2 with 9.24,Hector urias 3 at .9.28,Frank estrada 4 with 9.30myself in 5 with that 9.33,jeff lovell 6 with 9.66,a car that I dont know 7 with 9.87,Jerry matsko witha troubled 10.40 at 8 and Buster John 9 with 10.59

1 more qualifier to go in the morning

cheers richie,uk

Good to see there’s a full field in Pro Mod, seeing a couple of those things running was awesome enough, good luck to all for the rest of the weekend.  Cool

Fu*king incredible, congratulations. Must be weird getting a PB at 9.33 and still looking at the tail of the guy in the other lane! Hope you got a good photo of the Fiat? Very happy to see a ‘30, way quicker than I thought for a shakedown.

Not quite, it's only 149.28. Close but no cigar!   Cheesy

Congratulations to Hector Urias for taking a win against Richie in eliminations, last pass for the Cabrio was a 9.40 @ 147(something) with the boost dropping in 3rd. Back to the deckchair for a cup of tea I suppose. Sounds like it's been a good weekend over in Sacramento.

Well we are done,as Matt wrote we lost first round to Hector urias, his 9.28@142 good enough to cover my 9.40@147mph,had an issue today with it throwing the fan/alternator belt off[yes I am still running the stock engine tin/shroud/alternator set up]  and ,first pass it did it in the burnout which somehow messed with the boost controller sending into error mode so no boost controler, just on the wastegate so only a 9.71@140mph as it was way down on boost/power.S owe ended up qualifying 5th which matched us against Hector, this time it lost the belt in 3rd and I could imidiately feel the power drop off but still ran it out anyway, considering this was in the hottest part of the day the 9.40 was still very good.
Eventual winner Eric calabrese manged what I believe to be a new mph record with a final winning 170mph!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats to him and also Pat Mcdermott for his first 8,an 8.98@155mph in his VW turbo powered fiat 850 spyder.

It was an amazing weekend racing and all the other racers made me feel very welcome, even if "the steering wheel is on the wrong side" gets alittle old after the 20th person has mentioned it Roll Eyes Smiley

Best question of the day had to be
"Why doesnt your car have wheelie bars or a parachute? "   Wink Cheesy

This was all done with the 2332,not the big motor, that comes next Shocked Wink Grin

cheers richie,uk
