Dear Friends of the fast air-cooled VW`s with the right Stance !

The DFL wanted something to attractiveness of the new 1on1-Bitbug Motorsports Event held on the weekend of 12 and 14 June at Bitburg.
We look forward to this weekend with you to held there the "DFL 402 Cal-Look trophy".
A challenge were both your times on the quarter, as well as the Show'n Shine grades count.

The conditions are simple. All VW air-cooled vehicles can participate (which has been successfully safety inspectioned by the 1on1-Teams).The participation is free, there are no extra costs besides to the normal registration fee for 1/4-mile.

It will be held from Friday to Sunday 11 A.M. Yust collect your Timslips.T he Timeslip with the fastest ET of the 402,33 m counts (no red light). Please give the fastest ET slip to us till 11 AM Sunday. After the race-Action on Saturday all participants will line up at 6 P.M. at our club stand. Then some DFL-members (of course the DFL itself  doesn`t attend) judge the quality and style of your car`s. The "Look" counts! But we also like a view beyound the "dashboard" of our Cal Look-world!

Your cars are judged under the following categorys:
- body/paint
- interior
- engine compartment
- wheels/tires
- overall impression

For each category you can get 10 points. So a total of 50 points.

For your fastest ET will be a maximum of 50 points!

The fastest participant gets 50 points of the slowest 0...
All times between will be interpolated. The drivers get a corresponding points by the ratio of times
of the fastest and the slowest participant.

You can win with a super fine but slow car as well as with an "aged" but extremely fast car.
When you car is fast and good looking you have some good chances to win one of the 3 exclusive trophies Grin

The Awards ceremony will be hald on Sunday 12 o`clock at our club stand!

We are pretty sure YOU will have a great time and a lot of fun!

Hi everyone,

who will attend?

@Kobus: Sorry no DFL 402 @EBI but that could be a good thing for 2010. We will discuss that. Cool you like the idea!

@Udo: Dragday has it`s own (DAS) challenge.

@Sander: Cool, see you there! Please come to our club-stand and sign up. Who else will attend from DVK?

@Jelle/Roland: Hey come on over to Bitbug it will be a lot of fun.

Hey Felix... no EBI in 2010! we're back in 2011!
think about it...
just let me know..

for DAS Drag Day we do give the trophys... but there is no real championship with points etc like you guys will do..
so if you wan't it's ok to hand out an award using your point system at DDD (and even EBI) too  Grin

As both Jürgen and otto came out unharmed, it makes me guess they were both in the same car, hence not racing. good luck with the rebuild.

I hope this has not killed the joy of racing that thay, how many participants had to be judged? And more important, who won?

they were racing...
car got u after the start and when it came back down went sideways and sideways again into the other lane and car...

it was a fun weekend (short as i only made it on sunday) but did manage to race the beautifull notch off Felix (and lost  Roll Eyes) but was invited to join the heads up race in the last minute and it was nice to get something going like this.

good work DFL!!!

That's a shame!! I always loved this car, my greatest condolences to both racers! Did a axle snap? Spool?

Hi everyone!

Otto (left lane) and Jürgen (right lane) were racing each other. Jürgen made a huge Wheelie (until he hit the muffler) and the car came a little sideways. After the car came down it went further to the right and came into the meadow beside the track. It then continued gong sideways even more and crossed the left lane where unfortunately he hit Ottos Buggy in the rear right wheel. Nobody got hurt and Ottos car fortunately nearly has no real damage other than some scratches in the centline rim. After a reallignment of the axle tube he could go racing again.

The good side of the event was that we had excellent weather. We had 12 particpants in our DFL 402 cal look trophy. Not very much but okay for a start considering that there was nearly no advertisement made up until 3 weeks ago. The winner was Tom Ratzek in his black looker (who won the DAS trophy at the very first DAS Drag Day btw.). With a 10.8 ET in a very nice car he was unbeatable. 2nd place was given to Dirk Kunold and his recently finished berryl green looker with 2176cc IDA engine. 3rd place was given to Karin Tritz and her black '67 with 2276cc IDA engine.

We hope that everybody enjoyed it and we are looking forward to the 2nd edition of the DFL 402 trophy.
Bye,

Tobi
