Jesus,

What wheels are you running on your bay window? Could not tell by the picture.

Driving from Chicago to LA for the 2001 classic, we stopped on Loveland pass. The trip was a blast and I hope to make the drive again in a year or two. 14 days, 5500 miles, across death valley in the heat of the day. Who says a 2 liter can't be driven!

5.5J Cheap BRM's at the front

6J Race Weight Erco's on the rear, (they have a great offset so i can run 205/70's rather than the 195/65's i can fit on the BRM's, stupidly this mean my track wheels are better for the motorway and the BRM's are better for the track!)

Great road shots and nice stance on the cars too. They all sit great!  Good examples of Cal Lookers.  It is really cool to see another whole generation of VW fanatics keeping this madness alive. Nice work guys.

Hey Chuck I'm with you dude, maybe (just maybe) next year....if I keep moving on my '64 Sunroof

That's my old white '65 in front of Chuck's green car, before it was redone by Buddy Hale and now it's been sold for 1.5 years.....it had a stock 40hp for that trip....Chuck had a 2017 and our friend Tom's Herbie '65 has a 1776 I believe....I had the "small" engine, I was the pace setter.   Grin Grin Grin

posted this before but it rates as one of my favourites I've taken

And today it looks like this...

Having spent a weekend in it at EBI3, it is still as cool as the day it was done. Comfortable, 5 speed box, ripping 2387cc motor and tough as hell.  Cool

Tim, what's going on with the wheels in this picture? I really like it. Looks different and makes the car look mean.

I love the look of a '67 decklid with no license plate/license plate light and thought of doing it to mine.

The one thing that stops me is that there's no other place to mount the license plate that looks decent.  Sad

Two thousand nine minus twenty eight equals one thousand eighty one. That number minus one thousand sixty seven equals fourteen. Although math is my weakest subject, fourteen is a much lesser/smaller number than fourty two. Thankfully, a fourteen old German air cooled car enjoyed the luxury of having n.o.s. parts at many of it's respective dealerships. I know this because I sold them for a living. There were also wrecking or junk yards that were rather plentiful with said cars... all there for the taking. I know this because my fellow car club members and I constantly visited said locales and bought original VW parts whenever we wanted. I upgraded my '66 cars with almost every '67 part that I could get my hands on for dirt cheap. (read: reverse lights, interior knobs, factory seat belts, interior door pulls, etc.)

Sorry for the clarification. I shall now go back to my "rattle cans" (a rather crude and somewhat ghetto/gang term) just as long as you go back to your um, "Cal Look" decklid collection. I suppose that's the beauty of owning a Cal Look VW... we can mix and match different year parts on our cars. So if someone opted to put late door pulls on an early car. So be it.
