Like I said in my first post, I was just testing the water to see what interest I would get in selling some of my parts.
The interest has been overwhelming so as promised here’s a quick list of what I’ve decided to sell at the moment.
Please note that prices and photos will be given upon request as well as sensible offers are invited.
At the moment, to keep things simple for myself I’m just listing the big stuff.

I think I have to let you know that 3.5 years ago I closed my VW restoration shop down in Manchester, UK and moved out to Orange County, CA.
It was only while being back in the UK visiting family this Christmas that I’ve decided to sell my white 67 (listed) and some of my other stuff.

The response has been overwhelming but this is the truth of it, I return back to California on 21st of this month and I’ll be out there until probably this time next year so I really don’t want to give anybody the wrong impression or mess anybody around so If you want to buy any of my parts you have to be fast.

Quite a lot of people are asking me why I’m selling the stuff, it’s simple, I’ve enjoyed collecting and using wheels, etc… for the past 16 years I’ve not used them for the past 4 years or so and with building hot rods in SoCal my interests have kind of changed. Even though, I am a true Cal Look guy at heart and I’m keeping several VWs and performance stuff. I’ve just decided to sell the stuff that’s gathering dust and to give somebody else a chance to enjoy the parts like I’ve done.

Everything purchased new by Keith Seume and has covered less than 300 miles since I’ve owned it (Aug 98) it has been kept in heated garage on an engine stand and turn over at regular intervals.
When I purchased the engine from Keith I had John Maher run it up on the dyno and it made 181 bhp. I can't remember at what rpm. With finding this out John then worked out the spec for the transmission i.e. size of the tires, weight of the vehicle, etc... to be honest I just left it to John who is a professional engine and transmission builder (he knows how to make VWs go pretty fast...)

JMR 5 Speed transmission

Chromoly woodruff key                                         x2
Gearbox gasket kit

Berg 5 locking shifter
Transmission intermediate mount.

John goes into great detail on the spec sheet about blue printing, etc… here’s a few of his notes:

Profile ring and pinion (helps prevent cracking due to sharp edges digging into the ring and pinion teeth). Glass bead.
Set pinion depth, ring gear backlash and preload. Blueprinted assembly of gear stacks. (All tolerance set to minimum of factory recommendations to give maximum strength and tooth contact).
Set selector forks, assemble gear stacks into case, etc…
Also, for a lot of the internal parts John Maher stripped down and used a carters racing transmission for the 5 Speed, which was supplied by Keith Seume also original from Flashback.

Thanks for everybody's time, comments, complements and conversations.

All the above has been described to the best of my knowledge and will be sold in good faith.

Feel free to contact me if you need any more info I will try to help you out in anyway I can.

Chris Ashworth

Quite a collection!

For anyone who's interested, that engine is great fun yet still pretty tractable on the street. It's got all the good parts and history! Do Chris and yourself a favour: buy it!

Unfortunately I don't have a padded one, sorry.

For the GT steering wheel, I've been offered £550. I purchased it NOS in the box, but I fitted it to my car for maybe two years. It's got a very slight chip on the outsite edge of the horn push but barely visible (you've got to look for it). Sorry but the box is long gone.

I've had a lot of interest with these steering wheels so please let me know either way.

Thanks in advance
