European Bug-In photos Thread
«
on:
July 06, 2009, 09:07:03 am »
Lets keep this simple by only posting on one thread!
Firstly a bug thank you to Kobus, Fred and Mike for organising the event. AS good as ever.
Lets not forget the Gasser Garage, who bought along an awesome selection of cars, a special thanks to...
Russell, Wray, Kev, Dale, Ray, and Ritchie for providing the cars and keeping them on the track this year. Dyno Don for keeping us going during the soaring heat. Mark, Paul and sons for the racing and good humour. Greg and Pamela again for their good humour. Keith for not breaking anything and Deano for having to put up with Keiths driving and race wear!
Flat 4 and IP2 to complete the line up
Lets not forget Carl who managed to inflate a surgical glove to almost the same volume as himself before it exploded. Awesome. But even his dad couldn't fix that!!!!

My pictures are not nearly as good as speedwells, but that is not what you are waiting for right now. Right now I bet you want to see as much as possible of what has been going on.
This is Thursday, I came in at around 9 in the evening and was already car 200, I set up camp in the pits as 3 Wünderwaffe would be racing and soon it was too dark to take pictures.

Sam also showed up on Thursday, but it was only on Friday we could hand out the new Wünderwaffe stickers, it takes two to paste those, you wouldn't believe.
Afterwards Jelle lined up for the tech inspection, as friday morning he didn't have to wait too long. He passed! Soon after the tech inspection started filling up.
Last picture is Sam and Jelle lining up for an early practice run. The large amount of runs did give them some edge as they both accomplished quite some goals over the weekend.

The Wünderwaffe line up on saturday evening. My car really does stand out
Only cars missing are Nicolas (white 67) and Turtle (blue 59). Some other cars are in the works and should be finished some day.
Next is Peter/Ruff eying up Komori's Inch Pincher.
And finally what should have been Miss European Bug In this year given the attention she had: Poppy, the Great Dane, going crazy on the track, starting the reverse quarter mile with a four legged wheelie.

The nostalgia Line-up with I believe 5 GTV's. The green one in front isn't one, but still very very old speed (it got rewarded for the high quality restoration and of course the TDE engine in the back).
All the way from italy to take one of the most coveted prices, Europe's best OldSchool car!
And maybe a given, but the wocket made Europe's purest Cal Look.

A bit of the Cal-Look line up, with some very impressive cars amongst them, shame I haven't taken too many pictures of them.
Inch Pincher staging to race Blue Obsession.
A lot of the male attendees Pink Obsession: the well deserved Miss European Bug In 2009
And finally the girl who should have made miss European Bug In. Thanks again for signing the book, it made my day.

And finally a pick of some of the prize winners here on the lounge.
Sven, winning best after 66 and fastest racer (I think), Adele winning best before 66, Nicolas winning type three runner up and fastest street type 3 on the track (wasnt he the only one?
).
Finally Turbo Sam winning fastest street car. The last run he did was 12.8 launching in second as the gearbox was a bit broken, there is more where that came from

And @ Tom, I had indeed been looking out for you, shame you didn't make it. And what do you mean with "all" of the cars? I did bring the 66 if that is what you mean, it was the ugliest car of the EBI3, except maybe for this one
But I have been told Balls will take this as a compliment, so no feelings hurt

If you look close at the last picture, you can see the Undogs bussiness end. The end that hit the rails spinning after a bad shift. You can just about make out the magic marker where Jo wrote : "sorry about that". As it wasn't Russel driving, no he had to hand the keys to a woman.
No one was hurt, which is the important bit, and the dog was running again after some manhandling of the apron and the replacement of the folded up stinger.
