The last car to get finished for EBI at VW gasser garage was the EBI car,we had already converted it to a bus gearbox with Folts axle conversion but due to a lack of suitable rear wheels and some missing parts to finish the turbo kit and convert the car back to 4 wheel vw pattern brakes the car was left alone untill everything else was done, finally friday afternoon the last parts came in the mail and the wheels had turned up.
So we finished the brakes and the turbo system,it fired up straight away but was fairly rich.Everything was checked over and retightened, but that was it until monday when it drove onto the transporter under its own power for the 1st time.
Again when we were actually at chimay on friday it was left as we concentrated on getting the other cars running as well as possible and set up to there respective drivers liking,so friday afternoon it made it first pass,it sounded fine on the burnout but I had difficulty finding reverse an 2nd gear, then I missed 2nd on the run and it cruised through running a high 12.
On saturday we made some adjustments but I still had a problem getting 2nd gear but still managed to run 11.5,more adjustments were made with Mike herbert assisting and it finally seemed good,so 3rd pass and I was very carefull with the 1-2 shift and it runs 11.12@125mph.Our hope for the weekend was to run a 10,we wer now confident it would do this.
Sunday 1st pass the track had slowly got better all weekend and the air a little cooler so this was our chance.
I choose the left lane as it seems less bumpy to me and the car was suffering with the tracks variations in surface Shocked  So with the same style burnout as before I loaded the trans on the line and left at 6000rpm,it spun the tyres hard in 1st and 2nd but shifted fine and a few minutes later I was gretted by a very happy Russell telling me we ran 10.63@128.5mph which turned out to be low ET and top mph of the weekend Grin  I did get one more pass later on but had a broken lash cap causing it to limp to a 10.95@115mph.This was all with a maximum of 16lbs boost as we had no way to adjust it,so were just on the wastegate spring.

All in all a good weekend, with some fine tuning of the suspension to stop it squatting so much and a couple of other changes it should be a realistic 9 second car on a proper track, with a best 60ft of 1.69 and a 2.25 60 ft on the 11.12 run this weekend there is alot of improvement in it,
who knows maybe there will be a Yellow turbo car at SCC again this year Wink Shocked Grin

Thanks must go to Ray Schubert my partner in crime Cheesy ,Kev Dawson,Wray & Dale for there help in finsihing this thing in time,Matt sanchez for doing what he does best in helping me actually get the car to the line and of course Russell Ritchie for having these stupid ideas   Cheesy Grin   Allowing me to leave my mark on the "Yellow turd"

wobbly wheels don't help either!  Awesome time considering the lack of prep.  The question now is in 2yrs will it be in the 9's?

if you use my rubbish 60ft calculation which is massively incorrect, Richie should be able to run an 8 at SCC Grin

nice run, Russell was ecstatic when the 10.63 came up

Ruusel & Richie, without giving away an GG secrets I would love to hear more spec/details on your setup. Thats very impressive times for the cars first boosted runs, even with a turbo 'old hand' at the wheel Wink !
