About Rune's last comment; I'm nearly done with the whole conversion but I noticed the early indention is deep enough for the most upper fins of the late shroud... I can't spot weld those. What did You do Gary and Wardvwracer?

Deano How Would you get the fan inside the shroud? Huh

Ah, the tricky part.... I have an idea how to pull that one off, but I want to see if anyone else is on the same page. I think it would be very cool to have the front face of the fan housing void of that large 4-bolt plate. I rather see a smooth face, with only the generator mounting holes in it....
Bolt it through the fan shroud and drill holes in fan to get to hardware is how I am makeing my next one.

O-YA the genarator will bolt to shroud and will not have the backing plate with the four bolts mounting it.

Here is the One I Made I uesd a Early 40 HP shroud (that way it dosent look like a Repop Scat/Empi Tiwann Copy) I like the early indention in the center plus its a great place to put my FF Heads Sticker  Grin I did it kind of like Rune but  bent a flange on the dog house part and spot welded back together now I can bolt up the Berg linkage without sloting everything just need to finish minor body work and paint now

Another good thing by using the early 40hp shroud is exactly that it allready has that indention.. I had to make a "fake" indention on the inside of mine as the dog house vane just behind it is shorter that the others..

the last post from my iPod didn't work out too well.

what i meant to say is that the indention on the top of my early 40hp shroud is NOT deep enough to touch the vanes of the 1600 doghouse rear half.
how did you solve this? or should that little open space not make a difference?

and rune, i assume you used body sealer all the way or did you spot weld the shroud too?

Buddy Hale just did one about two months ago for Eliot Vancil for his silver Oval. No front plate, no filler neck on the stand, totally off the hook. Should be at the Classis next month.

Thanks, I already welded up the shroud for AssHull's car (well most of it, at least). It's a lot of work!
