Just wondered if anyone on here had done this?
Info on how much can be removed & where to cut would be much appreciated!
Cheers,
Kev

Kev, mine are narrowed an inch, Wayne Allman did them for me, basically the bearing carrier is cut 'out' and moved inwards 1 inch. I'm only on my iPhone at the mo so no pics to hand but I think there are a few on our build thread..

Did it on the GTV... bearing carrier is cut out, sunk in 26mm, remachined (due to distortion from welding), and I used 2 left side axles from a type 3 automatic trans car.

how do you go on with the axles then, you make 'em, or is there any 'off the shelf' that are narrower as standard?? i guess the whole idea is a bit like a ladder bar set up, no? if so, and axles can be made no prob, then ya can narrow the rear as much as ya like! or am i just talkin out me bum?
cheers

Left side type 3 axles are an inch shorter or if you want race axles just machine them down 1/2" each side! There is enough spline on there to do it, that's what I'm running

Personaly I shortend my axles by 18mm per side , I turned off 9mm off each end and then turned down the shoulder below the line of the spline's allowing the CV to sit further down the shaft .
I beleve Scat do a shaft with a long splined area so that you can pretty much cut them to which ever length you may need .
Hope this helps
