California Look, the first years of confusion

I have read the mags from the time when the term California Llook came up. In diffrent features the bugs are called California Bug, California Look etc. I had a chat with Mark Herbert about thiss issue and he told me that the term California Look was meat with a bit of confusion among his friends as the word "look" was tied to the look of cloths and not cars. So I guess a good thing has to get some time to be recon with, then accepted and after that it is established. Anyone now the story on how the name came up? And at what point was the term shortened to just Cal-Look!
