Those with big feet, how do you keep from getting your shoe stuck between

Those of you with big feet, how do you keep from getting your shoe stuck between the tunnel and brake pedal when trying to operate the accl pedal? I know there must be a reasonable solution, but I am tired of having to turn my foot kind of sideways to operate the accl pedal.
Thanks for any tips.

Actually I dont see a big problem with this.Try some slim shoes like the Puma`s. I have a hard time finding shoes in the right size so i usely end up driving without my right shoe, works just fine

I often wear DC or DVS skate shoes that are big, so I drive with my Vans Oldskool or Adidas Nastase.

Yeah, I switched from Vans to T Hawk shoes and am having the trouble. Even the Vans were a little tight in the pedal area. I thought it was just a problem with my car but I was driving a buddies the other day and it was the same-could be the shoes. Forget about wearing work shoes like boots. I was wondering if there were any mods to the pedal assembly? Some suggested shimming the whole assebly out from the tunnel but from my thinking that would screw up the clutch cable/tube alignment.
No I am not going to convert to RHD-haha although it is tempting.

Yep, my driving shoes - most other modern Vans won't work!
Pumas are great as well, but can't find 'em anymore (off topic: any source for the narrow sole models in the USA?).

That definitely won't work. Unless you cut open the tunnel and move the clutch tube too. Gotta move the accelerator tube too. And the master cylinder. Easier than that would be to clearance the left side of the tunnel beside the accelerator. BFH!
You could cut a bit off the right side of the brake pedal pad's steel backer. Then weld a bit onto the left side.
You could also bend the pedal over a bit. Bending the clutch would be needed too.

Its never really been an issue with me but then again I`ve been wearing Vans since 1978. As far as spacing out the pedals, how about using one of the clutch hooks that has the offset hook? I think they are for late models maybe.

I have this problem. With the all-stars I am okay but with the Docs, forget it. I just got annoyed one day and wedged my foot in there and bent the peddle over a little. But it is still an issue.

I wear 11's and I've never had this problem.
no matter which shoes I wear. Hiking boots got closest to interference but never got stuck.
I had a bitchin set of Pilotis for a while that were real nice for heel and toe downshifts. But even my work shoes work for matching revs too.
I think just moving the brake pedal backing over a quater of an inch would help (re weld)
problem I have after driving on freeway at steady speed for hours on end is my shin gets sore. Like shin splints back in 880 days.

Chucks are the best! I wear size 11 shoes and my chucks (which are 10.5's) only have trouble catching on my rubber west coast metric mat when I don't keep it dressed (or waxed). I also run a roller pedal but it ain't store bought! Funny that I never have trouble wearing my size 11 work boots while driving (although it's harder to "feel" the throttle and clutch letting out.
My dad wears a size 13 (Nike and New Balance athletic shoes) and has never complained about them while driving my car. Size 13 and up is HUGE...Never thought I'd be ashamed to admit mine is only a (weenie) 11!

Now that is funny! Did you have to replace the tires on the car with ski boots that big too?

I wear a US size 17 (I'm 6'10") and the only shoes that work are Chucks. The sole is thin enough to give a nice feel for the pedal too.....

I think in this case big feet
must
equal bigger socks!
I too like the thin sole of Chucks. I like to "feel" my pedal on occassion...Don't tell anybody though.
