There's a tube chassis one on The samba part built - you could e-mail the seller for some more pictures. It's sale pending so you don't have to worry about timewasting!

No, not squareback but one of my favorite Type 3.

It ran 9,7 and was just beautiful.
I will also post one more nice fastback for inspiration.

I was wondering about the gearbox too. O.K., I now know it's based on a Type2 automatic, but why is it mounted offset to the right?

Great car by the way!

I thought it was a bit of a coincidence when it came up sale pending just as you announced you were doing a squareback race car! Looks awesome! Smiley

The box is centered in the original vehicle, and used driveshafts of different lengths (just like on the Type 3 automatics). Offsetting the box means you can run equal-length shafts.

The ProTurbo Pizzo car was a very nice car. Even with todays standards it is nice and this was long time ago.

To be honest, we were a group that visited the Pizzo brothers way back when this car was running in California.
I have an awesome VHS of when they had rebuilt the transmission and then run it through the gears....in the garage with full load on the brakes and +30psi boost on the gauge.
It is good on video but standing there with the Sunoco race fuel, it was almost a Top Fuel feeling.
It was in fact for sale and one of the guys was contemplating to buy it. Never happened and since then up to last time we talked about it some months ago, he regrets it.
I did som research years ago and at that time, the car had been sold/running in Japan, were it was crashed. Not sure if true but in any case, if anywere to be found, that seems to be the place.

Sorry but those are the only ones I have.
It really worked good.
I saw it launch many times really hard and with the wheels just of the ground.
It is a De-dion with four link.

Could the Pizzo fastback or Red fasty be the same car as the 1980's version of Don Cossey?

This car was built by famous V8 race car builder Chris Alston's Chassisworks! His very first VW race car ever!

What happend with the squareback?
Is it in Denmark or did you changed the plans.
I saw it when it was on TheSamba.com and it looked like a cool project.
