When building a street engine, what do all of you consider one of the best values for an affordable street engine in terms of Crankshafts. Share your feedback.

I've used Demello for many years without problems on the street. I've heard of Demello being used in race engines without problem's. I just went with DPR, had another 83mm stroker ground by DPR, 411 center main, Chevy jounals, and wedge mated. I've heard of top racers using and backing them up. So I'm trying DPR out. So far went together in the case without a hitch. Very smooth turning. I also believe in overkill. Cheap insurance to me.

X4 on the DPR...! Ted assembled my motor and it too spins very smoothly !!.....By the way Rick I bought a case from you a few years back and in the last email you wanted to see the motor when I was done ..Well its done thanks to Ted ....a.k.a. Racecraf....and  thanks to you Rick...!!

The Berg cranks are still the best out there if you can find one. If you have one, don't let it go. But for the majority of builders these days, they are not an option.

I have been using a BUGPACK crank for over 15 years with no problems, best ET 9.05 @ 155mph best 60ft 1.24. I just switched to a BUGPACK Flanged crank but my old 82mm has no cracks and it will live to race another day.

Bad tune ups kill cranks, so let's hear how the others stand up, not just a manufactures name.

Personally i like the welded original cranks from Demello and DPR. The crank in my racecar is a welded bergcrank from way back when and has held up amazingly well. As for Okrasa i have quite a few that have lost the flywheel but they have been in Swedish Rallycross and those guys are famous for only having two tools sledgehammer and a crowbar. In my ARPM case there is a Berg crank with type four mains and type four flywheelcenter. Ihavent tested it yet. For a streetcar most of the aftermarket cranks will do the jobb if they are machined right. Several cranks have been to small on the pulley -surface so that will cause problems in the future. The reason for going with welded cranks is the superior material in the german cranks and all of the motors I build up to 1914 have the original noncounterweighted cranks. They very rarely fail and the measurements are always good.

Dominick,

I had one of the early BUGPACKS in my 67 street car. I pounded the heck out of it and after 10,000+ miles is was still good.  Eventually I built a 2275 with the same crank and rods. Sold the motor to FRENCHY and I think he put it in the old white 67 he had and sold to someone. Still around as far as I know. That crank is going on 15 years old.

Bugpack gets my vote too. Even Berg has said if you can't afford one of his cranks, Bugpack is the next best thing. I have a 78 VW journal in my 2165 and had a 84 flanged that I sold when times were tough.

Scat pro comp in mine for 10 years,4 different engine variations,mild N/A then more aggresive N/A then Nirous,then turbo,still lives on,never needed a grind,just a polish once and now calls the EBI car its home Smiley

Driven a Scat Pro Street crank since 1994, 50 000 km (just sold ) . Think this must have been a good year (JMR prepared and balanced )
Going for Scat again (Flanged pro drag ) Hopefully just a good ..all thanks to Scat ..

CB seems to be the more affordable and good street combo.  SCAT makes a very nice crank too.  Too bad the BERG Cranks are no longer being made. They were a class piece.

After a talk to G.Berg after Budel , must have been 1995 ,he told me they stopped making billets with the grain he was after .
Berg, as he told me, was byeing crankbilletts  from Bofors ,Sweden .
