crack in gas burner wheel
«
on:
June 20, 2010, 08:50:22 am »
Whilst restoring my gas burner wheels yesterday a hairline crack was noticed on the rim. I am getting it welded, but any advice of the magnesium content of the wheel, and pre-heating temperatures will be appreciated, thanks

You might give John Abbot a call at Java, he knows a thing or two about repairs to mag wheels.

You could also try Bob at Concept Racing (01989 763 777)
His ability with a tig welder are unreal, and he has just repaired a similar crack in my OG gasburner.

Thanks for the advice, but think its all in hand. Handy number to have though, judging by the bus built by him

Hi thejohn66,
Glad you got your wheel sorted.
Picked my wheel up the other day, as well as got a sender base welded into a fuel tank. If anybody needs any evidence of bob welding ability, check out this welding porn! The man is a welding god!!
