On Thursday June 10, 2010, I left for California in a VW jetta with three friends from Vancouver, BC. We booked it down taking shifts sleeping and driving. We made it to our hotel and the swimming pool a few hours before the the first event of the weekend, the Friday night VW Classic meet at Nick's Burgers.
It was my first trip to this show. I have never seen so many aircooled VW's squished into one tiny place before. It was great! Beetles, Buses, Karmann Ghias, Type 3's, Things, Porsche's, and many others just buzzing around everywhere. It was a beautiful Friday night, but a little colder than what I expected from So Cal. There was some very interesting cars there, some carrying plenty of history and fame such as "Tar Babe" and others came all the way from England just for the show.
It was a great time, and I really wish I had an old aircooled now. Sell my Golf for an early 70's bay window bus? Maybe?
