Made in "Western Germany"

That's what I have in engine. I got them in the coated flavor from Heads Up Performance about 10 years ago and they were twice what you paid.

You can be happy to have one of the originals , those are the 96 gramms . since mahle bought the company and they are now manufactured in brasil they have not the same quality

Those DDS manifolds were designed by Paul Schley, and if you turn them around (from your photo), you will see why they called them "Big Butt Manifolds"...

I got a leather bound Moto-Lita steering wheel and boss, very similar to the one in Deano Kirstens '67, arrived a day or two ago. Grin
My Nardi woodrim DIDN'T arrive, thanks to Parcelforce who held it in customs awaiting charges, and then helpfully decided that I must be psychic to know that it was there as they didn't tell me it was in the country... They've now decided to send it back to Japan! Angry

Also got a pair of Day Mouldings front wings for the '68, but had to pick them up... Wink

Yeah and Rob's work is first rate. The fit is dead on to the original shape. I hope to graft them in this weekend, weather and wife willing.

Very interesting story. I've don't recall seeing that one before. I wonder... did Billy Mitchell start with his existing Oval window (Dean Lowry's old car) to make his first radical chop top? I would love to see a copy of that story up close....

A vintage 1980 Johnny's Speed & Chrome matched set of Weber 42 DCNF's.  They are tight and in surprisingly good shape.   Cool

Hi Louis

Glad they arrived safe, I was starting to worry. It does look so much better already, Color isn't far off either . Once you've decided where to cut out the old arches , and got the new ones sitting in place , where the two panels meet , make sure you sand the edges to a fine point . So you don't have two 5mm pieces of fibreglass just butted up to each
other . This way the joint is spread over a wider area , and has less chance of cracking . I usually use a hot glue gun to hold things in place while you glass , and use masking tape over the join from the outside to stop gel and resin running through . Hope that makes sense . Rob

Thanks to Fabs for the Billy Mitchell reprints. Didn't know Motion had two cars at the same time. But I still wonder where the old Dean Lowry car went....

Here is a framed and matted photo of Billy Mitchell, signed in person, "First in the Tens".... (Paul Schley hates this photo...)

I'd read somewhere that Mr. Mitchell will not talk about his VW racing days at all anymore, and is quite rude about it.  I think it was over on UAC that somebody mentioned this, which I found really strange.  Did the 'first in the 10s' claim create a lot of bad blood between Mitchell and the Schleys?
