I scored these today and didn't want to wait for them in the mail so I went and got them.....These are original I purchased them from the original owner who ordered them out of the empi catalog back in 1970. They have all 4 original plastic inserts 3 original threaded caps 2 original studs and both original gaskets when purchased in 1970 [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ]

I almost bid on them, but at £180 a pair it was £30 to ship and £50 import duty!  They were cheap, I have seen recent ones go for almost double, but not treble.

I think they were reproductions from Florida, that someone tried to make look genuine.
P.S. The original stud seals from Empi were steel and rubber NOT plastic.

Repro GT valve covers do not have the original Empi part number stamped inside them... Beware.

yeah, I ran one on my Vert and it is a really nice addition.  makes the throttle VERY smoothe.  Worth every penny.  Everyone should run one of these in a type 1.

It's not ovepriced too.
It paid €37,58 EUR/$48,00 USD for, shipping cost included.

If you want to buy one, be careful as they are 2 versions  Wink

They are available through The Samba http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=786740

They are available through The Samba, but I think I rode in UltraVW that a UK company sell them as well.

I have one of those, I think it was prowagen that sold them, I might be wrong, as it doesn't have an invoice with it.

This came today. Won it for peanuts. Really cool shot of the 1-NED gasser at the 1972 Gatornationals. Such a cool shot. Wonder if the driver is still alive?

That photo is pretty significant. That was the first year for the Import National Event which means that a Volkswagen was the first to do it and that's the photo of him getting his prize. He's even wearing his Modified Eliminator jacket.

The mail lady was good to me today. Got some more stuff for the gasser project! Looks like I won't have to worry about gaskets for the valve covers. The originals are REALLY nice, so I lucked out. Cam and gear are NOS Deano!
